Do not put bedding compound IN the thread holes in the deck plate.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eEnsure the sealing ring (O-ring) on top of the gear unit sits in its groove.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDo not use smaller wire than recommended: it can cause malfunction and, in the worst case, fire. Keep the wires as short as possible.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe motor has a built-in overload circuit breaker that breaks the circuit before the motor gets too hot; after a short cooling period (depending on temperature under deck, ventilation etc.) it is ready again.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIf the motor has cut out, insert a standard winch handle and use the winch as a 2 speed manual winch meanwhile. Andersen recommends removing the handle when the winch is operated electrically.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe electric drive unit is lubricated, sealed and needs no further maintenance. The winch on deck is a standard self tailing winch: dismantle, clean and lubricate it once a year, with a further lubrication check during the year under extensive use (racing, charter, blue water sailing).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAndersen recommends always using ANDERSEN WINCH GREASE (silicone\/Teflon®); most other greases, including \"marine grease\", are not suitable.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTemplate and special tools are included; the electric unit can be turned in 8 horizontal steps (45°). Winch and electric unit can be dismantled separately; the electric unit is bronze.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eModular Power System: change to a hydraulic drive unit or from a 2+1 to a 2+2 electric drive unit.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe mounting instructions are shared with the 52\/56\/58\/66\/68 STE (pictures 1–8); the manual notes that a 58ST is used as the illustration and that your winch may look different but assembles as illustrated.
