With the template in place cut the Ø114mm (4 1\/2\") hole for the motor drive housing, then drill the Ø12.5mm holes for the M12 bolts. Clean out splinters, seal around the bolt holes and the central hole.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eStep 3 – Push buttons.\u003c\/b\u003e 25mm clearance depth below the mounting surface; supplied with 500mm leads. Hinged cover opens upwards on vertical surfaces. Drill Ø25mm (1\") plus three Ø3mm (1\/8\") holes, fit gasket and button with the 3x M4x20mm self-tapping screws and a little sealant; keep the breather channel on the through-deck tube clear.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eStep 4 – Winch.\u003c\/b\u003e Remove the top screws, lift off the self-tailing arm and drum, and bolt the base down with M12 bolts, large washers or backing plate and locking nuts. Full disassembly is not needed.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eStep 5 – Prepare for the motor.\u003c\/b\u003e Remove the 8x M10 hex head bolts (11) and lift off the centre stem. Take out the lower clutch plunger rod (19), then lift out the central gear set (3), the 3rd speed gear set (2) and the main drive gear set (1), each as a complete unit.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eStep 6 – Fit the motor unit\u003c\/b\u003e (two persons). Raise it from below deck, align the gearbox holes with the base and secure with the 8x M6 screws so the mating faces make full contact. Misalignment causes noise, vibration and premature wear of bearings and gears.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eStep 7 – Reassemble.\u003c\/b\u003e Refit main drive gear set (1), then central gear set (3), then 3rd speed gear set (2). The central gear set must mate with the hexagonal motor output drive; its two collets must sit fully in the shaft groove, held by the retainer ring. Re-insert the lower clutch plunger rod (19). Insert a winch handle: it depresses the spring-loaded plunger rods in the drive shaft and disengages the motor drive, and locks in that position.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTurn the drum by hand, then crank both directions with no load: smooth in both gears, drum always turning clockwise.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRemove the handle (a slight jostle helps the plunger return and the drive re-engage), switch the breaker ON, run the winch on each push button with no load; motor and gearbox should run smoothly without excessive vibration.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNote which button gives 1st (fast) gear: the same button also drives 3rd (slowest) gear under higher load.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eGear sequence:\u003c\/b\u003e 1st gear clockwise (or 1st-gear button); as load builds, 2nd gear by reversing the handle (or the second button). At low loads going back to clockwise returns to 1st; at higher loads the winch automatically shifts so that clockwise gives 3rd gear.
