Avoid a lark's foot (the \"Bad\" drawing shows the strop twisted on itself).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePull the elastic cord through to a knot on the required side with pliers; it supports the block when not in use.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDo not replace the strop with a shackle unless it supports the full length of the pin (e.g. a wide, flat shackle).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003ch2 class=\"om-h\"\u003e3-Phase Cam Action\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eLock-back:\u003c\/b\u003e holds the cam open, clear of the line.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eAuto-release:\u003c\/b\u003e when the sheet is loaded on the winch or by hand, the cam springs clear of the rope automatically.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eFriction phase:\u003c\/b\u003e the cam stays on the rope even if load is taken off; it cannot be released under load – release the rope by re-tensioning only.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eLock the cam back clear of the rope after use.
