Discontinued Lewmar Windlass to Current Range
Choosing the right replacement for an older or discontinued Lewmar windlass can feel overwhelming—especially if your unit has been onboard for a decade or more. Over the years, Lewmar has retired several legacy models, including the popular Horizon, Sprint, and Simpson Lawrence series. For boat owners, this often means encountering questions like: Which windlass do I have? Is it still supported? And what modern unit will fit in its place?
Here you can find some of the obsolete windlasses that have a current replacement option MAURIPRO recommends to ensure a smooth upgrade.

Why Upgrading an Obsolete Windlass Is Worth It
Even if your old windlass still operates, replacing it with a modern model can deliver big benefits:
Improved Reliability
Newer motors are sealed, more resistant to corrosion, and built for higher duty cycles.
Better Holding and Pulling Power
Modern gypsies grip rope and chain more effectively, preventing slippage.
Enhanced Safety
Smooth operation means fewer anchor retrieval hazards, especially in rough weather.
Readily Available Parts
Service kits, switches, and motors are easy to source, unlike parts for discontinued units.
Long-term Value
A reliable windlass is a major selling point when you decide to upgrade your vessel.
How MAURIPRO Helps You Choose the Right Replacement

Lewmar has discontinued several older windlass models, here you can find which ones are obsolete and their possible replacements.
Each obsolete windlass has a recommended modern replacement, simplifying upgrades and ensuring reliable performance.
Correct fit matters—motor type, wiring, and gypsy style must match to ensure a smooth and compatible windlass installation.

I have a Simpson Lawrence 12V anchor windlass with a serial number that starts with 471. It is gypsy only and the motor hangs vertically. There is a socket to release the gypsy clutch but no socket for manual operation. What model of winch is this?
