Maximum pull is given once per motor output. Deck thickness: 20 ÷ 60 mm (25/32" ÷ 2" 11/32). (1) After an initial period of use. (2) With a gypsy for 8 mm chain. (3) Minimum value for a total cable length L ≤ 20 m; size the cable for the actual run. (4) DC circuit breaker, delayed-action (thermal-magnetic or hydraulic-magnetic). Studs for thicker decks on request.

Rope sizes refer to a rope/chain rode made with the Quick system; other rodes are not guaranteed to work.
Dimensions mm (inch)
- Height 213 (8 3/8), length 373 (14 11/16), all motor outputs.
- Width: HC3 – 250 (9 27/32); HC3 D 284 (11 3/16); HC3 DB 318 (12 17/32).
Electrical System
- The reversing contactor unit is mounted on the windlass (parts 60A/60B: T6415-12 12 V, T6415-24 24 V): connect the supply cables from the windlass to the battery through the circuit breaker.
- Protect the motor line with a fuse, thermal-magnetic or hydraulic-magnetic breaker rated for the motor (see table); the breaker also isolates the control circuit against accidental starts.
- Recommended Quick accessories: RL control board (mod. 800), watertight hand-held remote HRC1002, foot switch (mod. 900), hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker, chain counters CHC1102M and CHC1202M, radio control (R02, P02, H02).
- Fit at least two controls, so the windlass can still be run if one is damaged. View HRC 1002 →
Before You Drill
- In the box: windlass, handle, bolts and screws, drill template, manual, warranty.
- Tools: drill with Ø 11 mm (7/16") and Ø 24 mm (15/16") bits, Ø 43 mm (1" 11/16) hollow mill, 13 mm and 17 mm hex wrenches.
- Align the gypsy with the bow roller.
- Upper and lower deck faces as parallel as possible; compensate if not, or the motor loses power.
- Deck thickness within the table range; otherwise consult a Quick dealer.
- No obstacles under deck for cables, rope and chain; the drawing shows 40 cm (16") of fall to the heap. A shallow chain locker causes jamming.
Fitting Procedure
- Drill the four holes with the drill template.
- Open the chain hole so chain and rope run free; the drawing shows the hole edge finished at 45°.
- Screw the studs into the base by their short threaded end, with medium-strength thread locker.
- Lower the windlass from above deck and fit the nuts on the studs.
- Run silicone around the whole outside edge of the base for a better seal.
- Connect the supply cables from the windlass to the battery.
Operation
Clutch, Weighing and Casting
-
Clutch: cones (17, 19) link the gypsy (18) to the shaft (14, 15 or 16). Handle (22) in the bush (2) of the gypsy cover (20): counter-clockwise releases, clockwise engages.
-
Weighing: engine on, clutch engaged, handle removed, press UP. If the windlass stops and the breaker has not tripped, wait a few seconds and retry; do not hold the button.
- If the breaker trips, reset it and wait a few minutes. If it stays blocked, move the boat to free the anchor. Watch the last metres to protect the bow.
-
Casting electrically: press DOWN. Manually: release the clutch and let the gypsy run; turn the handle clockwise to slow it.
- Once anchored, make the chain fast or take the load on a rope.
Drum and Manual Recovery
- Before warping, make the anchor rode fast to a bitt or strong point; keep hands clear of the drum.
-
Drum (3): release the clutch at least 2 turns of the bush anticlockwise, remove the handle, take at least 3 turns on the drum and run the control (31) keeping the rope under tension. When done, tighten clockwise and make the rope fast.
-
Manual weighing (not on the DB version): secure the chain with a clamp and cut the windlass power. Use the lock lever control (31) to engage the gypsy lock lever (28).
- Unscrew the bush (2) at least 2 turns, free the chain, fit the lever (22) in the seat in the gypsy cover (20) and haul by moving the lever anticlockwise.
- Then remove the lever, screw the bush back, release the gypsy with the lock lever control and reconnect the power.
Never run the motor with the handle in the drum or gypsy cover. At anchor and under way, hold the chain on a stopper or bollard and switch the breaker off.
Maintenance
- Switch off the motor power first, then remove the chain or rope from the gypsy and the rope from the drum.
- Wash salt deposits off with fresh water regularly.
-
Once a year, gypsy side: remove the bush (2) with the handle (22), undo the screws (21), remove the gypsy cover (20) and the top clutch cone (19). Undo the screws (30) and remove the stripper (29), leaving pin, spring and handle in place. Pull off the gypsy (18).
-
Drum side: release the bush (2) with the handle and pull off the drum (3).
- Clean, then grease the shaft thread (14, 15 or 16) and the gypsy seats of the clutch cones (17, 19) with marine grease.

Drill Template
The A3 drilling template (scale 1:1) for the Hector 700-1000-1500 is in the downloads, with the stud holes, chain and rope cut-outs and the bow direction. Print it at 100% and check the 100 mm / 4" scale bar before drilling.
The manual refers to dimensions "on page 44/46"; in this edition they are on page 34 (as printed).
