If You Don't Know Your I, J, P, E

Harken's Typical I, P and Typical J, E graphs plot rig dimensions against boat length (30–55 ft) for fractional and masthead rigs. Read them from the chart below; for real sizing use your sailmaker's or the designer's numbers.

Material, Speed & Handle

Drum material What Harken offers
Aluminium Radial in 1-, 2- and 3-speed, self-tailing or plain-top; classic single-speed plain-top sizes 6 and 8; 2- and 3-speed self-tailers 980 and up in aluminium or aluminium/stainless.
Chrome Radial with chrome drums and black or white composite bases and tops, 1-, 2- and 3-speed self-tailing; all-chrome Radial (chrome base, drum and top), self-tailing or plain-top.
Stainless steel Stainless bases, drums and tops; 2- and 3-speed self-tailing; 4-speed in some larger sizes.
Bronze Radial in 1-, 2- and 3-speeds, self-tailing or plain-top.
Carbon fibre 2- and 3-speed self-tailing or top-cleating.

Handles: plain or lock-in, in chromed bronze, bronze and aluminium, Speedgrip and standard styles, in 203 and 254 mm (8 and 10") lengths. For large cruising, Megayacht, Grand Prix and hydraulic winches, Harken asks you to contact them directly.
