The Original ATN Tacker slides around your furled headsail and holds the spinnaker tack on the centerline of your boat. As for side load: a tensioned headstay with the furler extrusion installed is a stiff, rigid assembly, and the Tacker spreads its load along the foil rather than point-loading it. The original Tacker is the easy option: it slides around the furled headsail, holds the spinnaker tack (and therefore its luff) on the boat's centerline, and can be adjusted up and down with its own tack line/downhaul. MAURIPRO Sailing stocks ATN Tacker options, listed in Spinnaker gennaker tackers.

What does an ATN Tacker actually do?
The Tacker is also most useful on a broad reach, with the tack set high on the furler, which is the point of sail where side load is at its minimum. Bob Pingel of Sailing Magazine framed it directly in 2024 Source The tacker allows me to use my traditional spinnaker without a pole without the accompanying complexities on my monohull. For 10 years, I have owned and used my 40' spinnaker sleeve and tacker on the sailboat that my wife and I cruise all summer on Lake Michigan. They work, but the rope and beads make direct contact with the furled UV strip every time you adjust the tack up or down, and that contact is a known wear point.
How do you match an ATN Tacker to your boat?
Where to use it The single-hander on a roller-furling cruiser Single-handed sailors on 30 to 49 ft monohulls with a furling jib and an asymmetric (or a re-rigged symmetric) in the locker. On a close reach the Tacker sits low, near the stem fitting, which carries the load directly. Going one size larger is never harmful, just overkill. Constructed with durability in mind, this tacker is compatible with boats up to 45 ft (13.7 m) and is a versatile tool for sailing enthusiasts.
What separates the ATN Tacker options we stock?
ATN Gennaker Tackers - Size A - Boat Size: Up To 33 ft (10 m)
Trim the sheet and the downhaul and you are sailing. The downhaul, in most cases, can be replaced by a rope pennant always on the spinnaker's tack, making the operation even easier. Of course you can fly a spinnaker without a pole and without the Tacker, but bear in mind that a conventional spinnaker is designed to fly a couple of feet above the lifelines.
ATN Gennaker Tackers - Size B - Boat Size: Up To 45 ft (13.7 m)
Fitted with a snap shackle for easy control. Eliminates the need for a spinnaker pole.
What else decides the choice?
The Tacker is rigged once, then deployed in two minutes: spinnaker halyard up, downhaul tensioned, sheet trimmed. Keep in mind, the WORST THING for your roller furler is an under-tensioned backstay. ATN Tacker, Asymmetric Spinnaker Tack Control | ATN Inc.
