Mounting Instructions
- Tools: large screwdriver, Ø6,5 mm (1/4") drill, 6 pcs. M6 (1/4") countersunk head screws, ring spanner to match the nuts.
- Remove screws (1), self-tailing arm (2) and drum (4).
- Mark the bolt holes with the template. The self-tailing arm is fixed in one position on this model – get the arm position right before marking and drilling.
- Remove the base (13); keep drilling dust away from the winch. Drill Ø6,5mm (1/4") holes.
- Bed every bolt hole with a light coat of bedding compound, keeping the drain grooves clear, and fasten the base with 6 pcs. M6 (1/4") countersunk screws, large washers or a backing plate.
- Reassemble and check: drum turns smoothly clockwise by hand and will not turn anti-clockwise; handle clockwise turns the drum, handle anti-clockwise does not.
Mounting template (RON-WMT-12ST-Rev.1, 1:1 on A4): winch base 115mm (4 17/32"), 6 holes 6.50 [1/4"] equally spaced on a 90mm [3 9/16"] P.C.D.; arm fixed in the position shown. Print at 1:1 and check the printed dimensions before drilling.
Service Instructions
- Tools: large and small screwdrivers, winch handle, Andersen winch grease.
- Remove screws (1), self-tailing arm (2) and drum (4).
- Insert a winch handle and pull the drive shaft (5) up gently while turning the ratchet gear (15) carefully; remove it.
- Remove pawls (6) and arm springs (7), then the ratchet gear (15). Do NOT remove the insert plate (14), but check it sits in its groove.
- Release the roller bearing (8) by gently inserting a small screwdriver between bearing and base (13); remove it and the spring (12). Do NOT remove the pawl (11) and spring (12) on the base.
- Clean everything in white/mineral spirits, including gear teeth and the roller bearing track.
- Reassemble, lightly greasing gear teeth, drive shaft, roller bearing, shafts, balls, pawls, springs and bushings with a small soft brush; pawls only a very thin film of Andersen Winch Grease.
When reassembling, push every pawl against its spring: it must move smoothly and snap back to engage the teeth. If not, clean and lubricate; if it still fails, replace the springs. Malfunctioning pawls can release the winch load unexpectedly.
Service Kit No: 18 (art. no. 710018) contains spare parts for this winch.
