Mounting Instruction

1. Remove the nut (14), the handle (13) and the shaft cover tube (11).
2. Slide the shaft/top (1) up through the winch and remove the drum (5).
3. Mark the bolt holes using the winch base (9) as a template, then remove the base so no drilling dust gets into the winch.
4. Drill the bolt holes ø6,5mm; centre hole ø23mm-ø25mm. Clean the area.
5. Apply a light coat of bedding compound so each hole is bedded.
6. Fasten the base (9) with 6 pcs M6 countersunk head screws, using large washers or a backing plate.
7. Reassemble in reverse order and check the winch works correctly.

Service Instruction

Maintenance interval 1-2 years, depending on operating conditions.

1. Remove nut (14), handle (13) and shaft cover tube (11); slide the shaft/top (1) up through the winch and remove the drum (5).
2. Clean all moving parts with white spirits / mineral spirits.
3. Check pawls and springs (2, 8) for wear and replace if necessary.
4. Reassemble, lightly greasing all moving parts, and check the winch works correctly.

If it has not been greased regularly the shaft cover tube can be hard to remove, especially on older models where it is fitted directly on the shaft. Tap it with a rubber hammer while supporting the other side with a wooden block, or tap the shaft/top up with a rubber hammer – with the nut fitted, to protect the thread. Andersen recommends always using ANDERSEN WINCH GREASE (silicone/Teflon®); most other greases, including "marine grease", are not suitable.
