QR Range

*Mounting not included in the weight. Each model suits one line diameter, printed on the rear side of the clutch. The max load is a limit for the line, not for the clutch: it comes from load tests on Dyneema™ and polyester lines; Dyneema™ with a Kevlar-polyester cover gave much better results than Dyneema™ with a polyester cover, which tested below plain polyester line. Keep appropriate safety margins.

• DV-grip: two opposing V-shaped wedges give a 4-sided grip – less line wear, higher holding power, smaller size and lower weight than two-sided clutches.
• The QR clutch can release a line under maximum load: open the handle and the line runs without the aid of a winch.
• Mounting fasteners (3 threaded studs, washers and nuts, AISI 316) are included.

Maintenance

• No lubrication needed; washing with fresh water prolongs life and keeps operation reliable. Spray fresh water through the slots in the side cheeks for quick cleaning.
• Never lubricate the V-shaped area of the two wedges: lubricant on the wedges reduces the clutch performance.
• To avoid aluminium corrosion use a light grease or a product like Tef-Gel between aluminium and stainless steel parts (screws). Antal offers Hidrolube grease in 150 gr packs.

Mounting

• Check the deck is structurally sound for the high load of a QR clutch; cored surfaces may need an epoxy filler and a backing plate of appropriate size and thickness.
• Keep a fair lead from the clutch to the winch, or the line will wear on the clutch exit. A wedge under the clutch can correct the misalignment; with a significant angle an under-deck wedge may be needed too.
• Through-deck mounting with three AISI316 studs, washers and nuts (included). Cut the studs to L = deck thickness + 22 mm for 8 mm studs, L = deck thickness + 28 mm for 10 mm studs.
• Thread locker: Loctite® strong (270) or medium (243) for the studs in the clutch base; medium (243) or weak (222) for the studs and nuts under deck.
• Bed the clutch with a flexible waterproof sealant around the holes and under the base.
• The guide refers to drilling templates that are not part of this file: take the stud positions from the dimension drawing of your model in the downloads.

Every part code printed on the Antal QR Clutches exploded views, with the models it is fitted to. Codes listed as a kit are pre-assembled groups; their contents are shown in brackets. Quantities are on each exploded view.

Using the Drawings

• Each exploded view shows every part with its code in a balloon, plus the part list with material and quantity. Quote the model code and the part code when you ask us to source a spare.
• Dimension drawings give the overall and fitting dimensions in mm, with weight and SWL in the title block where printed. Work from the printed figures rather than measuring a printout.
