Using the Winch

• Wind the line at least four turns around the drum, then lead it through the ST arm between the two self-regulating disks. If it slips, add turns.
• The lower self-tailing disk adapts to the line diameter within the range in the table: thinner lines can slip, thicker lines can damage the self-tailer.
• First speed (high speed): insert the handle on top and turn clockwise. Second speed (high power): reverse and turn counterclockwise.

Installation

• Installation is the responsibility of professional personnel; the installer must check the deck is in good condition.
• Position on deck: the line must reach the winch at an angle between 2 and 10 degrees.
• Skirt placement: the output gear must sit tangent to the pull direction of the line (see figure in the manual).

1. Unscrew the upper ring (R) with the supplied key (K) and lift the drum (D) to reach the anchoring holes in the skirt (S).
2. Mark the holes on deck using the skirt itself or the 1:1 drill template, and drill.
3. Put sealant around the holes – without blocking the drainage channels at the bottom of the winch – and tighten the bolts.
4. Refit the drum in the rotation that gives the ST arm orientation you want (where you want the tail to gather), then tighten the upper ring.

Screws are not supplied. Use AISI 316 stainless steel screws, washers and nuts, UNI5933 hexagonal socket countersunk head screws (5 x 8 for the XT40); length depends on deck thickness.

Drill Templates (1:1)

Print the template PDFs at 100% (scale 1:1) and check a known dimension before drilling.

Exploded Views & Parts Codes

One line per Antal code across all the sheets on this page; "Used in" names the sheet (model) where the code appears. Codes ending in CH are the chromed versions; codes ending in P are the Race (Peek) roller bearings. Quantities and exploded positions are in each PDF.

Parts List in the 2013 Manual (rev. 21-nov-2013)

XT40AL list; 19, 23–25 and 32 are not present. XT40R differences: 19 shaft bush (plastic), 22 stem (aluminium, SAN0534), 24 roller bearing (Peek), 25 seeger, 26 half-ring (chromed), 27 light shaft, 31 roller bearings (Peek, 2), 32 washer (C.F.). XT40CH difference: 15 drum (bronze). For winches built to this list, quote the item number and description when ordering.

Warranty

• Antal guarantees its equipment free of defects in material and workmanship for 3 years from the date of purchase; defective parts are repaired or replaced by Antal.
• Not covered: incorrect installation, use in applications it is not intended for, loads above the stated loads, lack of maintenance, corrosion, U-V degradation and normal wear and tear.
• Products under warranty claim are returned to Antal for examination; installation and shipping costs are not covered.
