Choosing the Material
- Diaphragms come in Nitrile (Buna N), Viton and EPDM; valve assemblies only in Nitrile (Buna N) and Viton.
- Nitrile: strong all-purpose material for oily water, sewage, de-watering and general waste water.
- EPDM: similar applications, but best when the outer surface of the diaphragm is regularly exposed to ozone from electrical devices or to sunlight.
- Viton: best for waste liquids containing gasoline or other aromatic hydrocarbons. Check chemical compatibility charts before ordering.
- Diaphragm and check valves are sold individually or as kits: one diaphragm, two valve assemblies and two sealing washers – all the rubber parts for one pump.
EPDM is only available for the size 0 diaphragm (113E-0). The EPDM spares kits (114E-117-120 and 114E-638-554) contain the EPDM diaphragm and two Nitrile valve assemblies.
