Pole Length
- The pole is supplied in two shafts: a smaller upper shaft with the flag attached, and a larger (1/2") lower shaft.
- Assembled length: 12' (the minimum required length) or 15', or any length in between.
To Assemble
- Slide the smaller shaft (shaft with flag attached) into the larger (1/2") shaft the desired amount.
- Keep a MINIMUM of 3" of bury (overlap) for the 15' length and 39" for the 12 foot length.
- Mark the point on the inner (smaller) shaft and withdraw it from the outer shaft.
- Thoroughly mix the epoxy supplied and apply it to the outside of the smaller shaft over the 3" immediately below the mark you made.
- Also apply some epoxy to the INSIDE of the outer shaft.
Be sure you glue the end of the outer shaft that does NOT have the holes for the retainer clip.
Mounting & Storage
Overboard poles occasionally get broken through misuse or improper mounting or storage. Avoid failure of the upper shaft by:
- Supporting the top of the pole with a flag tube (#202013 OP-FT).
- Not mounting the pole with excessive bend.
- Not placing the pole where it can be used as a grab-hold for boarding the boat.
