The 447 includes 10' of 3 mm polyester upper line and 10' of 5 mm polyester lower line.
This vang is not for the Laser: the Laser vang is a different part, available through Laser builders and dealers.
Line Replacement Chart
Length AB = from the base of the mast to the boom attachment. The 3:1 is the heavier line exiting the cam; the 5:1 is the lighter gross-trim line. Add extra to the 3:1 to reach from the vang to the helm.

Reeving: tie the 5 mm line to the becket of the 405 and lead it through the lower assembly sheaves and out through the bullseye and cam; the 3 mm line runs from the head of the 405 around the 407 and sheaves A and B on the lower assembly back to the 407 becket. Locating
- Lower assembly as low as possible on the mast without fouling deck hardware; the mastbase is best.
- Upper block about 1/3 of the way back along the boom; ideal vang angle about 30° from the deck.
- If the bracket does not fit the mast, squeeze it slightly in a vice.
- Adjust the length by retying the knot at the 407 becket.
Fastening
- Mark the 6 bracket holes and centre-punch them.
- Screws: stainless 10-32 (5 × .80 mm); drill 5/32" (4 mm), tap 10-32.
- Or stainless pop rivets 3/16" (5 mm) with a 3/16" (5 mm) drill. Other rivets are not strong enough.
- Cam arm: 3 positions. Remove the keeper ring and clevis pin, raise or lower the arm, refit.
Flush with fresh water. No grease unless the instruction sheet calls for it.
