Specifications

Single through-deck bushings

For lower loads and fairly straight leads. Less structural than doubles; factor block loading against the deflection angle, since greater angles may call for a double.

Double through-deck bushings

More structural: they take non-fair leads or load on both sides of the deck, and thread into themselves from top and bottom. Choose by deck thickness (last four digits = min–max deck thickness in mm).

Each kit has a cross pin and a waterproof cap with adhesive ring, turning a double bushing into a watertight through-deck padeye that can be loaded in any direction relative to the cross pin.

Single and Double Bushings

  • Reinforce and seal cored decks with a suitable compression tube.
  • Single bushings can be trimmed with a hacksaw, but you lose the radiused edge and anodizing.
  • Run a large bead of polysulfide marine sealant in the underside corner of the upper part.
  • The texture on a single bushing is for adhesion grip, not a load-bearing thread; coat it with adhesive for a permanent fit.
  • Doubles: a little Tef-Gel or grease on the threads, screw together until snug. Do not overtighten.
  • Clean excess sealant off around the flange.

Padeye Kit

  • Capture the loop or lashing on the cross pin, flats on the pin facing up against the bottom of the flange.
  • Loop or basket configuration are both fine, provided the loop can handle the load.
  • Peel the paper backing off the cap's adhesive ring; the bushing bottom must be clean and dry.
  • Stick the cap on the bottom of the double bushing.
  • Fill the padeye with silicone or equivalent sealant to keep water out.

Maintenance

  • Periodically pry the cap off with a screwdriver in one of the cutouts.
  • Clean and inspect the cross pin and the loop or lashing for wear; replace as needed.
  • Follow the specific block or loop manual for its own maintenance.
  • Teak cleaners and caustic solutions can discolour parts; not covered by the warranty.
