Maximum working load (MWL): 1300 kg (2866 lb). Loads above the MWL can make the winch fail or pull off the deck.

Installation

Mount on a flat area of deck, reinforced if needed to take at least twice the MWL.
Five M8 bolts through Ø8.2 mm holes on a Ø150 mm bolt circle. Bolts are not supplied.
Use A4 stainless bolts only (DIN 267 part 11). Do not use countersunk bolts.
Sheet entry angle 8° ±2°, with the drive gear where the sheet enters the drum.
Bed the holes in marine sealant and keep the base drain channels clear.

Two Ways In

Procedure 1: remove the drum and bolt through with socket-head bolts.
Procedure 2: unclip the skirt and use hex-head bolts (not for STBBB / STCCC).
Position the self-tailing arm so the tail leads into the cockpit.
A drilling template is available from Harken.

Maintenance

Routine

Wash with fresh water frequently, and after every use.
Keep teak cleaners and caustic products off anodized, chromed and plastic parts.
Inspect visually at the start and end of every season.
Full overhaul, clean and lubricate at least every 12 months.

Overhaul

Tools: medium flat screwdriver, 5 mm hex key, rags.
Torques: central screw 2 Nm, arm screws 4 Nm, housing screws 20 Nm, jaw screws 4 Nm.
Grease gears, pins and teeth lightly with Harken grease.
Oil the pawls and springs only. Never grease the pawls.

Replace worn parts with genuine Harken parts only. To order, quote the part number and the serial number on the drum support plate.
