Pack Contents

N° Description SP 125 HYD SP 225 HYD SP 325 HYD Model 250 SP 325 HYD Model 325 Reference
1, 2 & 3 Complete hydraulic control pack 1 1 1 1 MPHY 8800
1 Service valve 1 1 1 1 RT 208031
2 Electronic thruster controller 1 1 1 1 MPOP 5701/HYD
3 Control panel (black joystick) 1 1 1 1 MPOP 8105
  • Service valve = directional control valve + pressure relief valve + pressure gauge and valve.
  • The standard pack is for a 24-volt installation; if a 12v pack is needed and was not specified, contact your distributor.
  • Thrusters with an electronic thruster controller can only be used with Max Power control panels.

Max Power hydraulic control pack parts: service valve, electronic thruster controller, control panel

Siting

  • All components in a dry, ventilated space; installation by a professional, authorised dealer-installer.
  • Service valve as close as possible to the thruster, connected with thermoplastic non-conductive hoses.
  • Control box securely fixed to a bulkhead in a dry, protected area close to the service valve.
  • Control panels in easily accessible positions without obstructing engine or steering controls, protected from the elements when not in use. Fit the pre-cut rubber seal with the black stainless steel screws; clip on the face cover only when wiring and position are final.
  • Panels are fully waterproof from the front only if installed correctly; keep the area behind the dashboard dry.

Wiring

  • Breaker/isolator for the controller supply on the main switchboard, marked THRUSTER(s), ideally fed from a battery bank independent of the one powering the electro-hydraulic pump.
  • Protect the positive supply of the control box with a fuse (8 A on the wiring diagram). Size the supply wires (red & black; 2 × 2 mm² depending on cable length on the diagram) so voltage drop stays under 5% of nominal battery voltage.
  • Control wires to battery isolator, power relay, clutch relay and service valve: voltage drop under 5% at the controller's cable connectors B & C. Number and tin all wires.
  • Install a manual and, if possible, an electric battery isolator in the electro-hydraulic pump's positive supply; isolate the pump power after leaving port and after docking. Without an electric isolator, ignore the two grey wires in connector B.
  • Two diagrams in the manual: control system using an electro-hydraulic pump, and using a motor with clutched PTO.

Switching On/Off

Panel To switch ON or OFF
Single touch panel Push down both red & green push-buttons for one second
Single joystick panel Push down the red push-button while pushing the joystick to the right for one second
Double joystick panel As single joystick, for both bow and stern thruster
  • ON: one beep, green LED in the red push-button lights. OFF: two beeps, LED goes out.
  • Red button or joystick left: boat moves left; green button or joystick right: boat moves right. Wrong direction: swap the blue and brown wires on the DCV coils.
  • Time delay between left and right thrust; no delay thrusting to the same side.
  • Automatic switch-off after thirty minutes unused, with two warning beeps.
  • Allow for the boat's momentum: release the control before reaching the desired position.

Alarms & Safety

  • The electro-hydraulic pump has a N/O heat sensor as standard; extra N/O sensors can signal hydraulic oil overheating or reservoir oil level.
  • On alarm the buzzer beeps and the green LED flashes; you then have 10 seconds of actual thruster use before automatic shutdown, and the unit cannot be switched on again until the alarm clears.
  • Switch off both the DC equipment panel (control supply) and the pump battery isolator after leaving port and after docking.
  • No inflammable products near the electric components; never use the thruster near swimmers or floating debris.
  • Never work on the thruster unless both control and power circuits are isolated.
