Where to Drill

  • Drill the half of the spinner that does NOT have the stop: part #7A in Figure 1.

Drilling and Tapping

  1. The pitch is adjustable: make sure the pitch setting is known before the propeller is taken apart.
  2. Disassemble the propeller and remove the two spinner halves.
  3. Set spinner half #7A in the vice of a drill press, level, with the internal bearing surfaces facing up, and secure it so it cannot move.
  4. With the 13/64" bit, drill through the two bearing surfaces marked "*" in Figure 2.
  5. De-burr both holes.
  6. Turn the half over and re-secure it with the outside of the spinner exposed.
  7. Holding the 6mm x 1mm tap parallel to the drilled holes, turn it 5½ turns; remove the tap and clean out the shavings.
  8. Fit and tighten one set screw per hole, flush or slightly inset.
  9. If a set screw stands above the outer surface, remove it, cut one more complete thread with the tap and refit it flush.
