  • Automatic rope/chain windlass for rope from 16mm up to 20mm and chain from 8mm up to 16mm, depending on the chainwheel.
  • Options: capstan or low profile; standard deck clearance 100mm (4") or EDC 200mm (8").
  • Released November 2000, discontinued November 2011.

QF or NQF?

  • NQF (Non Quick Fit): two-piece deckplate; Siti gearbox (SP2909) or Maxwell gearbox (P9508022).
  • QF (Quick Fit), 2002–2011: one-piece deckplate with a quick fit spring between deckplate and spacer tube, so one person can install it; Bonfiglioli gearbox (SP3304); spacer tube with a neck (QF only).
  • Deckplate, chainwheel height, gearbox and spacer tube are the identification points; drum, chainwheels and shaft also changed, and there is very little interchangeability between NQF and QF.
  • Many NQF spares have since been machined from QF parts, so the number cast or moulded on a part can mislead: a 5220 (QF) chainwheel machined into a 5040 (NQF) still shows 5220 in the pocket.
  • NQF with Siti gearbox (2000–2002, mostly 24V) and NQF with Maxwell gearbox (2001–2002): only a limited number of parts are available.

Change History

  • 2000: a small number of three-bolt flanged Cima motors used.
  • 2001: Maxwell gearbox introduced alongside the Siti (Siti mostly with 24V motors, Maxwell mostly with 12V); they use different spacer tubes and shafts.
  • 2001: upper pressure arm changed from three pieces (5014 + 5087 + SP0199) to one plastic part (4611 or 5437), retrofittable.
  • 2002: stripper redesigned with a lobe; Quick Fit Liberty introduced with the Bonfiglioli gearbox and most parts renewed.
  • 2005: stainless steel stripper option (QF and NQF) after breakages of the standard stripper.
  • 2006: quick release clip 4546 replaced by circlip SP0878 (the clip could catch the rope and drop with the gearbox key); shafts 5210/5211/5212/5213 replaced by 6175/6176/6177/6178 – on old shafts fit washer 6170 with the circlip.
  • 2006: a small batch of NQF Liberty with Maxwell gearbox, sold mostly in NZ.
