| G | Allen key | N | Target pressure indicator |
Health & Safety
- Designed only as a flow meter for mechanical seals using water; install by competent engineering personnel with all isolations in place.
- Do not exceed the maximum design pressure or operating limits; where over-pressurization is possible, fit a suitable protection device.
- Supply connections can get hot in operation. Make sure the unit is completely leak free before full operation.
- At end of life, dispose of the barrier fluid and system according to local regulations.
Installing & Commissioning
- Flush new or renewed water supply lines so no harmful particles pass through the valve and seal. Keep the water supply closed for steps 2 - 5.
- Mount the FlowTrue free from vibration, close to the pump, where it is easy to read and maintain.
- Connect the hose from the water supply to connection (I), and from connection (J) to the mechanical seal.
- With the flow valve (H) closed, set the red target flow indicator (C) to the desired flow rate with the 2.5mm Allen key (G).
- Switch on the water supply and open the flow valve (H) until the white left-hand ring (D) lines up with the red indicator (C).
Alarm Option
- Remove the alarm label from the top of the unit, fit the alarm with the screws supplied and wire it to a suitable control panel.
- With the Allen key (G), set the flow control valve (H) so the indicator ring (D) shows the minimum acceptable flow: this is the flow alarm value.
- Loosen the screws, move the alarm to the far left of its slot, then right until its light comes on, and tighten it there.
- Set the target flow indicator (C) to the desired flow and adjust valve (H) until ring (D) lines up with it.
- The alarm light stays on until flow drops below the alarm value, which triggers the alarm device on the control panel.
Cleaning the Flow Tube
- Unscrew the cleaning button (A) anti-clockwise.
- Pull it out of the body and push it back and forth until the cleaning ring (E) clears the flow tube.
- Push the button back in and tighten clockwise, hand tight.
Operating Limits
| Polyethylene body (chemical environments, yellow) | Limit |
|---|---|
| Maximum pressure | 145 PSI / 10 BAR |
| Maximum temperature | 140°F / 60°C |
- A filter such as a Y strainer upstream helps prevent clogging.
- 316 systems with a water based barrier/buffer: chloride content should not exceed 250ppm.
