In the Box

  • Water heater, mounting, bolts, nuts and screws, user's manual, conditions of warranty.

Installation and First Use

  • Dry, well-ventilated location: without ventilation condensation forms and can be mistaken for a leak. Never in closed or poorly ventilated rooms, or where gas or flammable material is present.
  • The listed weights are empty: add about 1 kg (2,2 lb) per litre of water when sizing the mounting.
  1. Fit the mounting (17) to the tank (1) with the studs and nuts supplied (18, 19, 20).
  2. Fix the heater on a flat surface, an inclined plane or a wall, with mountings suited to its weight and the site.
  3. Connect tap water in and out, and the engine cooling circuit to the heat exchanger, keeping that run as short as possible; follow the engine manufacturer's instructions for the coolant connection.
  4. Use Loctite 243, 577 or Teflon on the fittings and check for leaks.
  5. Fit the discharge pipe (7) to the relief valve (5) with the hose clamp (6), sloping evenly downwards, protected from ice and open to the atmosphere: it may drip.
  6. Open the hot taps and start the water pump to push the air out; close the taps when air-free water flows. Check all joints.

Power Supply and Thermostat

  • AC power cable supplied (brown live, blue neutral, yellow/green earth). Fit a double pole switch and a suitably rated fuse; at least 3 mm insulation between contacts; follow national wiring standards. Check the supply voltage matches the element.
  • Never switch on the element unless the heater is completely full of water: the element is destroyed and the double thermostat protection fails.
  • Thermostat: standard setting 60°C. Power off, remove the protection cover (12), turn the knob with a screwdriver, refit the cover and power on. It regulates the water temperature only when heating electrically.
  • Over-temperature: the double thermostat with manual reset cuts the power. Power off, remove the cover (12), press the reset button on the double thermostat, refit the cover and power on. If it trips repeatedly, call a Quick service centre.
  • A damaged power cable must be replaced by a Quick service centre; opening the unit without authorisation voids the warranty.

Maintenance

  • Check the magnesium anode (A) every 12 months; replace it if significantly reduced.
  • In winter, if the heater is not used, drain it with the lever of the valve (5) to avoid freezing damage.
  • Operate the overpressure release device regularly to clear calcium deposits and make sure it is not blocked.
  • Periodically check the water joints, the tightness of the securing screws (replace if worn or corroded) and the electrical system.
