In the Box

  • Water heater, tank mounting, screws, user's manual and conditions of warranty.

Installation and First Use

  • Dry, well-ventilated location: without ventilation condensation forms and can be mistaken for a leak.
  • The listed weight is empty: add about 1 kg (2,2 lb) per litre of water when sizing the mounting.
  1. Fit the mounting to the tank and fix the heater to a wall with mountings suited to its weight and the site (the drawing shows the permitted orientations, 0°÷ 90°).
  2. Connect tap water in and out, and the engine cooling circuit to the heat exchanger, keeping that run as short as possible; follow the engine manufacturer's instructions for the coolant connection.
  3. Use Loctite 243, 577 or Teflon on the fittings and check for leaks.
  4. Fit the stub pipe to the valve with the hose clamp, sloping evenly downwards, protected from ice and open to the atmosphere: it may drip.
  5. Open the hot taps and start the water pump to push the air out; close the taps when air-free water flows. Check all joints.

Power Supply and Thermostat

  • AC supply: brown live, blue neutral, yellow/green earth. Fit a double pole switch and a suitably rated fuse; at least 3 mm insulation between contacts; follow national wiring standards. Check the supply voltage matches the element.
  • Never run the electric element unless the tank is full of water: the element is permanently damaged.
  • Thermostat: standard setting 60°C. Power off, remove the protection cover (14) to reach the thermostat (12), turn the knob with a screwdriver, refit the cover and power on. A mixer controls the hot water temperature when both the electric element and the heat exchanger are in use.
  • Over-temperature: the double thermostat with manual reset cuts the power. Power off, remove the cover (14), turn the knob to maximum, press the reset button, set the knob back to the required temperature, refit the cover and power on. If it trips repeatedly, call a Quick service centre.

Maintenance

  • Check the magnesium anode (A) every 12 months; replace it if significantly reduced.
  • In winter, if the heater is not used, drain it with the valve lever to avoid freezing damage.
  • Periodically check the water joints, the tightness of the securing screws (replace if worn or corroded) and the electrical system.
