Maximum pull and weight are given once per motor power (both voltages). Deck thickness: 35 ÷ 65 mm (1" 3/8 ÷ 2" 9/16). (1) After an initial period of use. (2) With a gypsy for 8 mm chain. (3) Minimum value for a total cable length L ≤ 20 m; size the cable for the actual run. (4) DC circuit breaker, delayed-action (thermal-magnetic or hydraulic-magnetic). Studs for thicker decks are available on request.

Gypsy Chain size

8 mm – 5/16" DIN 766, ISO EN 818-3, G4, BBB
10 mm – 3/8" DIN 766, ISO EN 818-3, G4

Dimensions mm (inch)

  • Height above deck: 205 (8 3/32), both versions.
  • Below deck: 195 (7 21/32) on the Eagle 700W D; 210 (8 1/4) on the Eagle 1000/1400W D; motor housing width 150 (5 29/32).
  • Base: 295 (11 5/8) × 239.4 (9 27/64).

Electrical System

  • Motor feed: battery → hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker (rated per the table) → contactor unit → motor. Cable size is for the total length L = L1 + L2 + L3 + L4.
  • Contactor unit supplied: mod. T6315-12 (12 V) or T6315-24 (the 24 V unit is also labelled "12V" in the diagram, as printed). Install it where it is protected from water.
  • Control circuit fuse: 4 A (12 V), 2 A (24 V).
  • Controls wire to the contactor with black, brown and blue leads; the main connection diagram adds the chain counter sensor.
  • Recommended Quick accessories: RL control board (mod. 800), watertight hand-held remote HRC 1002, foot switches 900U/900D, hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker, chain counters CHC1102M and CHC1202M, RRC radio controls (R02 receiver, P02/H02 transmitters).
  • Fit at least two controls, so the windlass can still be run if one is damaged. View HRC 1002 →

Before You Drill

  • In the box: windlass, contactor unit, base gasket, drill template, handle, bolts and screws, manual, warranty.
  • Tools: drill with Ø 9 mm (23/64") bit, Ø 51 mm (2") and Ø 127 mm (5") hollow mills, 13 mm hex wrench.
  • Align the gypsy with the bow roller.
  • Upper and lower deck faces as parallel as possible; compensate if not, or the motor loses power.
  • Deck thickness must fall within the table range; otherwise consult a Quick dealer.
  • No obstacles under deck for cables and chain; the drawing shows 40 cm (16") of chain fall to the heap. A shallow chain locker causes jamming.

Fitting Procedure

  • Drill the four holes with the drill template.
  • Open the chain hole so the chain runs free; the drawing shows the hole edge finished at 45°.
  • Lower the windlass from above deck with the gasket between deck and base.
  • Screw the studs into the base by their short threaded end, with medium-strength thread locker.
  • Fit the nuts on the studs, then connect the windlass cables to the contactor.

Operation

Clutch, Weighing and Casting

  • Clutch: handle (1) in the gypsy cover (2); counter-clockwise releases the clutch (3), clockwise re-engages it.
  • Weighing: engine on, clutch engaged, handle removed, press UP. If the windlass stops and the breaker has not tripped, wait a few seconds and retry; do not hold the button down.
  • If the breaker trips, reset it and wait a few minutes. If it stays blocked, move the boat to free the anchor. Watch the last metres of chain to protect the bow.
  • Casting electrically: press DOWN; the chain pays out evenly under control.
  • Casting manually: release the clutch and let the gypsy run; turn the handle clockwise to slow the chain.

Drum and Safety

  • Before warping, make the anchor and chain fast to a bitt or strong point.
  • Drum (21) on its own: release the clutch at least 2 turns of the gypsy cover anticlockwise, remove the handle, take at least 3 turns of rope on the drum. Keep hands clear.
  • When finished, tighten the gypsy cover clockwise and make the rope fast.
  • Never run the motor with the handle in the drum or gypsy cover; switch the motor off for any manual work.
  • At anchor and under way, hold the chain on a stopper or bollard and switch the breaker off; the windlass is not designed for storm loads.

Maintenance

  • Switch off the motor power first, then remove the chain or rope from the gypsy and the rope from the drum.
  • Wash salt deposits off with fresh water regularly.
  • Once a year, gypsy side: handle (1) off the gypsy cover (2), remove the top clutch cone (3), undo the screws (11) of the stripper (9), remove it and pull off the gypsy (4). Clean, then grease the shaft thread (17) and the gypsy seats of the clutch cones with marine grease.
  • Drum side: loosen the bush (22) with the handle, pull off the drum (21), clean and grease the shaft (17).
  • Clean any oxide off the motor and contactor terminals and grease them.

Drill Template

The A3 drilling template (scale 1:1) for the Eagle 700/1000/1400W is in the downloads: it marks the four Ø 9 mm stud holes, the chain cut-outs and the bow direction. Print it at 100% and check the 100 mm / 4" scale bar before drilling.
