- All models: power supply 10-30Vdc, transom thickness 10-60mm, cable 2m (blade) / 4m (extension cable). Side profile 65 / 73 mm; height 181 mm (IN35, IN45) or 170 mm (IN60, IN75, IN100).
- Control unit: 267 x 167,80 mm, 51 mm deep. Control unit drilling template width 252 mm.
- Kit: interceptors (model chosen at purchase), control unit, display, CAN 0.5 M extensions, T connectors, CAN terminators, M12 connector, M12 power 5-pole extension 4M, drilling templates, installation manual and display operator manual.
- Sound pressure at the workstation LpA <70 dB(A).
Before You Start
- Intercepta should be the main system controlling running trim. With an outboard or stern drive, set the drive trim to zero, except at high speed or when automatic control is added on top of the basic Intercepta trim.
- It never relieves the helmsman of responsibility: learn how it affects handling in calm water first. It can affect stability.
- Never force the blades by hand; watch the sharp edges. Switch the system off when docked, at anchor or hauled out.
- Lift and handle the units with several people or mechanical aids, wearing helmet, gloves, safety shoes and suitable clothing. Store in a dry, ventilated, temperature-controlled room.
Where the Interceptors Go
- Thru-hull cable fittings can be above the waterline (A) or hidden behind the interceptors below the waterline (B).
- Spray rail overlap: maximum extension E = 50 mm.
- With outboard or stern drives keep clearance to the propellers: minimum 75 mm and 100 mm as drawn; an intermediate interceptor between drives is shown at 0 mm.
- Convex bottom: max 5 mm gap; concave bottom: min 6 mm between adjacent interceptors.
- The transom must be flat where each interceptor sits: max 2 mm between parallel surfaces.
- Tilted transom: do not mount flush with the hull bottom. The interceptor angle to the water must be 0–10° maximum; use a mounting bracket flush with the bottom, slide the interceptor against it and mark the base line.
Back Plates, Thru-Hulls & Fronts
- Tape the drilling template (specific to each model) to the line you marked and drill the fixing holes; hole sizes are on the template.
- Hidden thru-hull: drill a Ø 3 mm (1/8") pilot and a Ø 25 mm (1") hole with a hollow mill.
- Apply silicone to the rear of the back plate where it bears on the hull, then position and fix the back plate with its screws (torque depends on the screw type).
- Fill any gap between plate and hull with sealant and remove the excess (risk of cuts on the edges).
- Thru-hull: hold with an 18 mm wrench (23/32") and tighten with a 32 mm wrench (1 17/64") to 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft); seal it inside with suitable sealant.
- Thru-hull above the waterline: drill in line with the interceptor cable (Ø 3 mm pilot, Ø 25 mm hollow mill), seat the cable fully in the clip, then fit the cable cover: mark its lower edge, cut it ~5 mm above the mark (extension optional), drill using the cover as a template (Ø 3.5 mm for T20 ST 4.2x19 screws, Ø 5 mm for T30 ST 6.3x38; machine screws, not included, on metal hulls) and seal the holes.
- Place blades A and B with sliding blocks and rollers on the back plate in the order shown in the spare-parts drawing, then fix the front part (3 Nm and 5 Nm, as printed).
- Antifouling: spray (or roller), remove the excess once dry and trim along the blades with a cutter or spatula so they move freely.
Control Unit
- Mount it inside the transom, facing the bow, where it is easy to wire to the interceptors and the battery (e.g. engine room). Other orientations are possible but must then be set from the display.
- Power 10-30 V DC through a 30A fuse / circuit breaker (brown and blue cables); the ignition key detection input switches the system on and off with the engine.
- Wiring example: up to four interceptors on ports P0–P3, two displays, NMEA 2000 and the Quick network.
Display
- Dry, ventilated position, readable by the helmsman, with rear access and the back protected from water. At least 25 cm from the compass, 50 cm from radio receivers, 1 m from radio transmitters, 2 m from the radar beam.
- Cut-out from the template: 4 holes for the bushes and the central opening (an inaccurate cut spoils the gasket seal). Fit the gasket, the 4 stud bolts, then shaped washers, growers and nuts from behind. Peel off the protective film.
- Keep cables 1 m from radio cables (2 m from SSB). CAN extensions max 100 meters. Do not power it from the engine starting batteries.
- Ports: CAN to the interceptors, ignition cable, NMEA 2000 (plotter, autopilot), USB Type C; Wi-Fi for remote support, updates and configuration.
- Operation, commissioning and alarms are in the separate Display Unit manual (CMVUI35IT000). Standards: EN 60945-2002 (EMC), RoHS 2011/65/EU.
Maintenance
- Launch: antifoul the interceptors (spray recommended), clear the paint between the blades, then run the blades to their end stops with the controls and perform an Interceptor Check of the servomotor torque.
- Hauling: never put blocks against the interceptors or their blades. Pressure-wash them with the blades fully extended, check for damage, retract by switching off and check the cable covers. After a long season, remove the fronts and wash inside.
- Clean the interceptors externally at least once a year. Repairs only by qualified personnel with the system disconnected.
- Display: fresh water and a soft cloth only; no dry wiping, no abrasive, acid or ammonia-based products, no pressure washer.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible cause → solution |
|---|---|
| System does not power on (Status LED off) | No supply or wrong connection → check control unit supply; blown fuse → find the short and replace with the same rating; KEY signal missing → check the KEY cable; control unit damaged → replace. |
| Display does not turn on (Status LED on) | Cable to control unit disconnected or damaged → check IN NET wiring; control unit or display damaged → replace. |
| Display always shows "System Init" | Wrong IN NET wiring → check topology and terminators; cable, control unit or display faults as above. |
| Display does not respond to touch | Display damaged → replace. |
| Green Status LED, no errors, display shows movement but actuators do not move | System in Dummy mode → enter the correct number of actuators in the Interceptors Settings menu. |
| Actuators move slowly | Manual sensitivity set to "Low" → change it in Interceptors Settings; actuator mechanically impaired → clean or replace; actuator damaged → replace. |
| Actuators reach only half stroke while 100% is shown | No vessel speed (SOG) → check or change the SOG source. |
| No NMEA2000 sources under Navigation Info | NMEA2000 not connected → check network; no source on board → check devices; control unit damaged → replace. |
| Error 0x0001, 0x0002 | Actuator initialisation problem → check actuator status and other errors. |
