Figures from the per-model "MC²X Technical Data" sheets (downloads below), which the manual says carry the specific data of the unit purchased.
Structure & Positioning
- Before installing, make sure the chosen position and the boat structure can withstand and transfer the gyro loads to the hull; if in doubt, have a naval engineer carry out a structural analysis on site.
- Size the supporting structure with a safety factor SF ≥ 3. The forces below act on each fixing screw simultaneously and do not include the loads from the boat's own motion at sea.
| Model | Stabilizing torque | Fz per screw | Fx per screw | Fy per screw | Lifting weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MC² X3 DC | 3000 N·m | 8,7 kN | 13,3 kN | 11,7 kN | 131 kg (288,8 lb) |
| MC² X5 DC | 5200 N·m | 13,2 kN | 16,4 kN | 14,5 kN | 200 kg (440 lb) |
| MC² X7 DC | 7100 N·m | 17,8 kN | 22,2 kN | 19,6 kN | 282 kg (621,7 lb) |
| MC² X10 DC | 10000 N·m | 25,1 kN | 31,3 kN | 27,7 kN | 301 kg (663,6 lb) |
| MC² X13 DC | 13200 N·m | 25,7 kN | 42,4 kN | 37,4 kN | 461 kg (1016,3 lb) |
- Install with the hull plane within ± 2 degrees of the waterline, parallel to the boat's transverse axis, in a dry, clean, ventilated place (no water, no splashes), ideally in the lower area of the hull. An engine compartment with acoustic insulation is recommended.
- The flywheel rotation sticker on the cover must face the bow or the stern; follow the drilling template.
- For high-speed boats or large waves, Quick specifies installing the gyro between the stern and the vessel's centre of gravity.
- Several units on one boat: position them so the flywheels rotate in opposite directions.
- Leave enough room to remove the external cover, reach the connections and service the unit.
Fixing
- Fibreglass hulls: laminate the support to the hull (brass or aluminium plates can be incorporated); aluminium or steel hulls: weld the structure; wood hulls: consult the boatyard or a naval engineer. Example 1 in the manual uses a saddle with brass plates, min. thickness 18 mm (45/64 in).
- Mark the anchoring points with the drilling template. Hull structure as planar as possible: not over 1.5 mm from one side to the other.
- Silent blocks accessible from above: bolt the gyro directly. Not accessible: use the optional base plate (original spare part) and bolt the gyro to it.
- Screws strength class 10.9 minimum; washer and Loctite only, no lock (grower) washers. Tighten gradually in a criss-cross pattern with a torque wrench.
- Check the screws after 50h of use, again about one week after installation, and periodically for settling.
- Lifting: only with straps secured to the supports on the base, using spacers so the ropes do not damage cables or connectors; rest the unit on a shockproof surface.
Screws & tightening torque
| Model | Screw | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| MC² X2 DC – X3 DC | M10 | 78 N·m |
| X2 / X3 / X5 / X7 / X10 DC (base plate) | M8 | 40 N·m |
| MC² X5 DC – X7 DC – X10 DC | M12 | 136 N·m |
| MC² X13 DC | M12 | 136 N·m |
As printed in the manual table; the X13 DC drilling template marks 130 Nm. Supplied: 8 screws, 4 eye bolts for lifting, the installation template. Tools: lifting straps, torque wrench, 11 mm (7/16") drill bit, 17 mm (21/32") fork key, 8 mm (5/16") hex key.
Electrical Connection & Start-up
- The gyro comes pre-wired, each connector tagged; do not change the output position of the pre-wired cables. Ground the motor frame.
- Protect the 12 Vdc battery feed with either a circuit breaker or a fuse (one excludes the other), rated per the technical data sheet; a differential breaker is not supplied.
- The RC Remote Control MC2 (5" touch, IP66, multi-station) is not supplied with the gyro; it connects over CAN-BUS (J3 cable, CAN T 5P F/F/F connector, terminator). Panel power supply 9-32 Vdc.
- Start-up: power the driver first, then the RC remote, to avoid a "communication error"; switch on from the RC panel.
- Commissioning is a guided digital procedure by a certified, Quick-authorised technician; the warranty is active only once Quick validates the report.

Safety
- Installation, inspection and repair by qualified personnel only. The installer is responsible for the mechanical fixing, the electrical connection and correct operation once fitted.
- Never touch the stabilizer while it runs, never remove the external cover and keep hands, objects and body away from the rotation area.
- The flywheel keeps spinning for 1 hour after power is switched off. Disconnect power and check on the RC display that the flywheel has completely stopped before any cleaning, inspection or maintenance.
- No electrical work on any system device while the flywheel is still rotating: its inertia keeps generating current.
- While under way with the flywheel at full speed, do NOT disconnect the power supply: it would interrupt the precession control.
- Do not step on the top cover. No solvents or fuels for cleaning; do not remove the safety labels. Removing covers or seals voids the Quick warranty.
Maintenance & Technical Lockout
- Maintenance is mandatory even with no faults. Scheduled maintenance is carried out by authorised Quick personnel, who issue a report.
- Annual service: after 1 year from activation or 1,000 hours of bearing operation, whichever comes first. The RC display shows a reminder at the start of the 12th month or at 900h of driver operation; the wrench icon stays until the service is done (the gyro keeps running).
- The Setup screen of the RC shows the maintenance status of each component and the time left to the next annual service (view only, no password needed).
- External cleaning: soft cloth dampened with water only, no chemicals or abrasives.
| Service overdue | Technical lockout |
|---|---|
| Start of 13th month / 900h | Warning message: no reduction |
| 14th month / 1000h | 20% speed reduction |
| 15th month / 1050h | 70% speed reduction |
| 16th month / 1100h | 100% reduction – not running |
Only an authorised Quick service centre can restore normal operation after the overdue service, and skipping the annual service forfeits the warranty.
Maintenance chart (every 1000 hours or yearly, whichever first)
- Driver / display update; corrosion check; fastening of sensors and connectors; oil leaks – verify pressure levels; fastening screws.
- Lubrication and cleaning of bearings; bearing supports check; visual inspection of the flywheel; flywheel rotation check by "free hand".
- Swivelling fifth wheel greasing; silent block check; precession sensor belt check.
Bearings must be replaced after 2,000 hours or within three years of the machine's life.
