What It Does & Requirements
- Lets Volvo Penta control systems command ONE BT QSY or BTQ (with MSC) thruster on the "Q Centric" network.
- Isolated OEM CAN bus interface with isolated OEM network supply, integrated 120Ω termination, N2K-compliant pinout on the OEM connector; firmware update via USB-C; 12/24 Vdc supply.
- In the box: gateway, Volvo Penta OEM network NCG adapter cable, manual and warranty.
| Volvo Penta requirement | |
|---|---|
| System | Volvo Penta Assisted Docking for DPI and IPS (10, 15, 20 and 30); Volvo Penta Joystick Docking for single DPI engine installation |
| Hardware | Part Number 24510291 – CONVERTER, THRUSTER CONTROL MODULE (THCM) |
| Software | Quick proportional thrusters supported from EVC2.0 25W49; THCM software 24972444, loaded from the VMM during an Autoconfig in EVC (the THCM ships with older software). Older boats: update EVC2 with the VODIA aftermarket tool. |
Mounting & Wiring
- Mount near the OEM system's communication control unit, accessible for maintenance, on a smooth, level surface with room above the front for the connectors.
- Fix with 4 flat-head screws under 4 mm (not supplied): Ø 2.5 mm pilot holes in fibreglass, 4 M4 flat-head screws on metal. Do not overtighten.
- At least 25 cm from the compass, 50 cm from radio receivers, 1 m from radio transmitters (except SSB), 2 m from SSB transmitters and the radar beam; cables 1 m from radio signal cables and 2 m from SSB transmitter cables.
- Q NETWORK: plug in the drop cable from the "Q Centric" network (max 5 m).
- OEM NETWORK: plug in the M12 female end of the supplied adapter cable; its other end goes to the Volvo Penta Thruster Control Module P/N 24510291. OEM connector pins: VCC, GND, CAN H, CAN L.
- Check all connections before powering up.
Status LED
| LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Off | Not powered |
| Steady green | Powered, no problems |
| Steady orange | Low supply: below 9.5 V (clears above 10 V) |
| Orange, 1 repeated flash | OEM network not connected (normal if the OEM system is off or disabled) |
| Orange, 2 repeated flashes | "Q Centric" network not connected – check its connections |
| Orange, 3 repeated flashes | Neither network connected |
| Red, flashing very fast | CRC error flash: firmware corrupted – contact Quick |
| Red, flashing fast | EEPROM CRC error: disconnect the power; at restart factory settings are restored |
Maintenance: none special. Disconnect power, then clean the front with a soft cloth dampened with water; no chemicals.
