  • (1) May reset below 9 Vdc. (2) Typical, backlight at high intensity. (3) Below 0 °C the display slows down.
  • Shows the three charger output voltages and total current; backlight 6 levels, contrast 5 levels, audible alarm, reverse polarity protection.
  • Package: RDS 1562, frame, drilling template, connecting cable, 2 termination connectors, manual, warranty.

Mounting

  • Easy to read; clean, smooth, flat surface; rear access and room for the connectors; back of the unit protected from water.
  • At least 25 cm from the compass, 50 cm from radio receivers, 1 m from radio transmitters (2 m from SSB) and 2 m from radar beams.
  1. Place the drilling template, mark the hole centres and cut the opening.
  2. Remove the template and deburr.
  3. Fit the display with four countersunk screws (not supplied) and clip on the frame.

Drill template (RDS 1562 / RDH 1660)

  • Print at 100% and check the 100mm scale bar before cutting.
  • ø40 (ø1" 9/16) opening and four ø3 (ø 1/8) holes, 63.2 (2" 1/2) as drawn.

Wiring

  • Always connect the RDS 1562 to the charger's CAN OUT port, ferrite end of the patch cord at the charger; fit the termination connector in the display's second RJ45.
  • Use the supplied cable or a UTP CAT5 patch cord; data cable max 100 meters; keep cables 1 m from radio signal cables (2 m from SSB).
  • In "monitor" mode the display keeps reading voltages with the charger off, powered from the MASTER battery bank.
  • In parallel (current sharing) networks each end of the CAN chain needs a termination connector.

Using the Display

  • Start-up shows the software version for 2 seconds, then the charger data.
  • Hold ENTER 3 seconds to enter the main menu; UP/DOWN to scroll, ENTER to select.
  • Press UP and DOWN together to silence the alarm; press DOWN + ENTER briefly for stand-by.
