Our store lists these chargers as "SBC ... Nrg FR" with the same model numbers and output currents.

Location & Sizing

Model Battery capacity Min. output cable
SBC 140 NRG+ FR 55 ÷ 120 Ah 6 mm2
SBC 250 NRG+ FR 110 ÷ 250 Ah 10 mm2
SBC 300 NRG+ FR 140 ÷ 300 Ah 10 mm2
SBC 500 NRG+ FR 180 ÷ 400 Ah 16 mm2
SBC 365 NRG+ FR (24 V) 65 ÷ 150 Ah 6 mm2
  • Output cables max 4 metres. 6 cells (12 V) or 12 cells (24 V).
  • As close to the batteries as possible, dry and airy; horizontal or vertical with the output connector facing down (vertical preferred); 5 cm clearance all round (excluding the base).
  • Rechargeable lead (open or sealed), Gel, AGM and Optima® batteries only. Fixed indoor installation.

Wiring

  • AC cord supplied: brown/black 1 live, blue/black 2 neutral, yellow-green earth. Fit an overvoltage category III switch for on/off only; check the rating label matches the mains; wire to local codes.
  • Disconnect AC (bipolar switch) and the batteries (isolator) before touching the DC terminals. A damaged AC cord must be replaced by a Quick service centre.
  • Batteries gas while charging: ventilate the battery area, no sparks or naked flames. Check polarity before connecting: reversal can seriously damage the charger even though it is fused.
  • Battery positive to an output positive, negative to the charger negative, with the supplied terminals. With one or two banks always use MASTER (main output), ideally for the most-used (service) bank. Leave unused outputs free: never bridge them.

Battery type selector

  • Rotary switch in the terminal area; set it with the charger switched off.
  • Positions: OL open liquid electrolyte (factory), SL sealed liquid electrolyte, GEL, AGM, OPT Optima®.

Charging

  • BULK: constant current at the maximum (or reduced) rating, at start-up, with flat batteries or a heavy load.
  • ABSORPTION: constant voltage while the current drawn is above the ABSORPTION–FLOAT threshold (20% of maximum output current).
  • FLOAT: maintenance voltage once the current falls below the threshold; batteries can stay on charge without overcharging.

LED Signals (POWER, FLOAT, CHARGE)

Indication Meaning
Steady, FLOAT lit FLOAT phase
Steady, CHARGE lit BULK or ABSORPTION phase
Slow flash Output short circuit or overload: check output wiring, battery bank and loads
Slow flash Overtemperature: ambient above +70°C, output suspended until below +50°C
Quick flash Output overvoltage (internal fault): Quick customer service
Quick flash No AC (in FLOAT or ABSORPTION): output resumes above 83 VAC
Slow flash High temperature: ambient above +50 °C, output current limited linearly

Each fault has its own pattern of LEDs on and off: see the LED table in the PDF. Maintenance: none; check cables and connections once a year.
