Turning On the Display

The display ships "turned off" to save battery. Press and hold [CLEAR], and while holding it press and hold [MODE], [SYNC] and [START/STOP] together for 5 seconds.

Race Timer Mounting

Wear the timer on the wrist or mount it on mast, boom or deck: remove the wrist strap and fix the housing through its two holes with M4 or 5/32" fasteners that do not protrude, so the timer snaps fully into the housing. Snap it in for racing and remove it afterwards for transport/security; check the snap fit is fully home before use.

Backlight, Sound & Modes

  • Backlight: in any mode press [SET]; it stays on for 4 seconds. Frequent use shortens battery life.
  • Backlight / sound on-off: in Time mode hold [SET] for 4 seconds; while the symbols flash, press [SYNC] to scroll the on/off options. To switch back on, hold [SET] for 4 seconds until a single beep. Turning off sound signals does not affect the daily alarm, and active button presses always beep.
  • Time ↔ Racing mode: hold [MODE] then press [SYNC]. The last function or start sequence used is remembered. Pressing [MODE] alone toggles functions within the current mode.

Time Mode

  • [MODE] toggles Time > Chronograph > Alarm.
  • Time: line 1 hours:minutes, line 2 day-month and seconds. [SYNC] switches 12/24 hour; [START/STOP] switches day-month / month-day.
  • Set time: hold [CLEAR] 5 seconds; seconds flash, [SYNC] zeroes them; [MODE] steps through minutes, hours, year, month, day; [SYNC] up, [START/STOP] down; [SET] saves. Changes save automatically after 8 seconds without a press.
  • Chronograph: [START/STOP] starts, stops, restarts; [CLEAR] resets. Counts to 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds then restarts from zero.
  • Alarm: hold [SET] 2 seconds, set minutes and hours as above, [SET] saves; [START/STOP] switches the alarm on/off. It sounds for 30 seconds; any button stops it.

Racing Mode

Line 1 shows remaining minutes:seconds, line 2 time of day. [MODE] toggles the start sequences:

  • Only one countdown can run at a time; stop it before running another sequence.
  • Count Down Repeat / Count Down & Up: in the chosen sequence hold [SET] 3 seconds to switch. Count-up shows elapsed time to 59 minutes 59 seconds, then restarts from zero.
  • User Set: press [STOP] then [CLEAR] to reset to the default 1 minute; [SYNC] adds 1 minute at a time.
  • SYNC: if the countdown was started late, press [SYNC] to drop it immediately to the next minute and carry on counting down.

Sound Signals

Battery

  • Watch: 1x CR2032 3.0 volt lithium battery.
  • Timer: 2x CR2032 3.0 volt lithium battery.
  • Battery replacement by a qualified watchmaker.

Care & Warranty

  • Rinse with fresh water after use in salt water.
  • Use only to the rated water resistant depth; do not operate buttons while submerged.
  • Avoid chemicals, sunscreens, lubricants, solvents, paint; avoid dropping it. Do not open the watch.
  • Ronstan warrants Clear Start™ watches and timers against defects in materials or workmanship for one (1) year from purchase by the original purchaser.
