Ronstan RF2437-12 & RF2437-16 Removable Lashing Padeyes — Installation Instructions

Cut-out & Deck Thickness

Parts: padeye, socket, clamping ring, stainless steel cross-pin and dust cover.

Installation

1. Choose the location and cut the hole with a hole saw or jigsaw (table above). Fill and seal the cut surfaces with a suitable filler/sealant.
2. With the padeye still in the socket, remove the clamping ring and set the assembly into the hole with marine-grade sealant between the underside of the socket flange and the deck.
3. Rotate padeye and socket so the stainless steel cross-pin is perpendicular to the intended load direction before fitting the clamping ring.
4. Screw the clamping ring onto the socket thread under the deck with its lead-in chamfer facing up (toward the deck) to start the thread.
5. Apply Loctite® No. 243 to the socket thread just below the deck and tighten the clamping ring firmly against the underside of the deck with a pin spanner.

Cutting and installing through-deck / hull fittings should be done by appropriately skilled or qualified people.

Lashing, Removal and Refitting

• Unscrew the padeye from the socket with a spanner on the flats at its top, taking care not to scratch the anodised surface. The internal dust cover (with Ronstan logo) rises to the top of the socket and leaves a flush top.
• Attach the lashing around the stainless steel cross-pin. For a closed-loop lashing, remove the cross-pin with a 5mm Allen key, fit the lashing, then screw the pin back in firmly.
• To refit, align the two pins under the padeye with the holes in the dust cover and screw the padeye in until firm.
• Padeye and block/hardware can be removed at any time, leaving a clear deck; different blocks or hardware can be fitted to a padeye and moved between sockets.

Mounting Templates

Templates are drawn at 1:1 on A4: print them at 1:1 (actual size) and check the printed dimensions before cutting. Ronstan notes the drawings are for deck plans and some details are omitted; for exact dimensions contact us and we will ask Ronstan. The instructions give the RF2437-16 cut-out as Ø72mm (2 7/8").
