Tools required

  • Drill
  • No. 2 Phillips head bit
  • Scissors
  • 4mm (5/32") hex Allen key
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • 4× M5 (3/16") or 8G self-tapping mounting screws

Fitting the Cleat Riser (if required)

  • Use the riser if you need a higher sheeting position. Decide before screwing the base down: the riser must be fitted first.
  1. Remove the cam cleat from the swivel arm with a Phillips driver; keep the 8G screws.
  2. Drive the cam-cleat screws into the pre-drilled holes in the riser.
  3. Place the M5 nut in the riser and, with the Allen key, draw cap screw, washer and nut together so the riser is fitted firmly to the arm.

Fitting the RF6 to the Deck

  1. Remove all packaging and cable ties. Print the drill template at actual size and check the scale bar (28 mm); cut it out around the dashed line.
  2. Align the template arrow with the boat's centreline, pointing forward. This gives equal arm rotation to each side, with the arm toward the stern.
  3. Turn the red switch anti-clockwise with a flat screwdriver until the arm swivels freely.
  4. Rotate the arm until the moulded-in arrow on the base shows in the switch hole of the arm. With the template still in place, set the RF6 on it with the base arrow on the template arrow.
  5. Hold the arm down so the base cannot turn, turn the arm clockwise until the first mounting hole appears in the switch hole and fit the first M5 (3/16") or 8G screw.
  6. Rotate the arm to reach the other three pre-drilled holes (two either side of the stopper) and drive the screws, keeping the base arrow aligned with the template arrow.

Stand-up Boot and Block (block not included)

  • The boot is designed mainly for the Ronstan shackle-head Series 55 Ratchet Orbit Block™; for a smaller block it can be cut to suit. The PDF shows the cut lines for a Series 40 Orbit Block™ and for a Dyneema link-head Series 55 Orbit Block™.
  1. Invert the stand-up boot.
  2. Pass the block's shackle through the stainless steel loop.
  3. Place the inverted boot over the shackle, pass the pin through the headpost and tighten.
  4. Roll the boot back to its original position: the two lugs under the boot locate in the holes in the top of the base.

Engaging / Disengaging the Ball Ratchet

  • The ball ratchet adds friction to rotation and stops the arm swinging away when the mainsheet is not held.
  • Engage: turn the switch clockwise.
  • Disengage: turn the switch anti-clockwise – the RF6 swivels freely.
