Ronstan Series 200 top-down furler spec sheet: furler RS020000 with top-down RS120060R, top swivel, thimble, shackle, snap-shackle and 2:1 fairlead

All dimensions on the spec sheet are in mm; do not scale from the drawing.

Furling Line Replacement

Recommended line: polyester braid, 10mm (3/8") FSE Robline Sirius 500; or high performance 10mm (3/8") FSE Robline SYS cover with Ocean 3000 Dyneema® core.

A – Feed & splice

Feed one end of the furling line through the guide rollers, around the drum, back out the guide rollers, then splice.

B – Pre-spliced line

You will need: metric Allen/hex key (#4), silicon lubricant spray (e.g. Ronstan Sailfast RF3000), Tef-Gel TG-10.

  • Remove the M6 × 14 screws on top and the M6 × 17 screw underneath, lift the top plate and drop the loop around the drum.
  • Reposition the PTFE strip making sure it is engaged in the groove of both the top and bottom plate.
  • Spray Ronstan Sailfast or a similar silicon based lubricant into the groove to help assembly and ensure smooth operation.
  • Add Tef-Gel to all screws before re-assembly to prevent corrosion around the stainless steel fasteners.
  • Swivel the drum by hand to check it spins freely over the PTFE strip.

Furling line alignment: the line must lead fair into the guide as shown in the manual. Use a block or fairlead where required; two cam cleats can keep the furling line tight when not in use and stop the sail unfurling.

Guide Arm Alignment

The guide arm can sit in line or at 90 degrees to align the furler mount with the deck or bowsprit attachment. You will need: metric Allen/hex key (#5), Ronstan Tef-Gel TG-10.

  1. Loosen the bolt & nut (M6 × 55) located in the guide arm underneath the drum.
  2. Loosen the two screws (M6 × 17) holding the guide plate to the guide arm.
  3. Drop the guide arm off the shaft, exposing the guide arm locking pin.
  4. Rotate the guide arm by 90 degrees.
  5. Push back up along the shaft, over the locking pin, and make sure the guide arm is fully seated.
  6. Tighten the bolt, nut and screws.
  • Fairlead and snap-shackle (permanent mount): use the same method if you want to re-align the fairlead.
  • Snap-shackle adaptor: simply rotate the adaptor at 90 degrees using the clevis pin supplied with the adaptor.

Maintenance

  • Rinse regularly with fresh water to remove salt.
  • Apply Ronstan RF3000 Sailfast™ (or a similar silicon based lubricant) over the body and components to enhance performance and prolong service life. Do not use petro-chemical lubricants.
  • Periodically remove fasteners and re-apply Tef-Gel® (TG-10) to prevent corrosion.
  • Factory sealed bearings are maintenance free. Bearing and seal replacement can be arranged through your local Ronstan re-seller.
  • Furlers carry a three year warranty (terms and conditions from Ronstan).
