Hole Pattern (not to scale)

Six holes on the centreline of the mast front, measured upward from the lowest hole (0), which sits 65 mm below the stay attachment point.

From the lowest hole (DOWN) upward Hole
0 Ø20
25 Ø9
44 Ø8 (end of slot)
188 Ø8 (other end of slot, 8 mm wide cut-out)
229 Ø20
254 Ø9

All distances in mm, measured from the lowest hole (0) toward the masthead, as on the dimension sketch. The sketch is marked "not to scale": use the figures, not the drawing.

Fitting Procedure

  1. Protect the parts of the fitting that touch the mast extrusion against corrosion.
  2. Mark a point 65 mm below the stay attachment point: this is the lowest hole.
  3. Draw a line on the centre of the mast front, parallel to the mast axis, and mark the five remaining holes from the lowest one.
  4. Pre-drill Ø 6.5 mm, then drill out to the sketch dimensions.
  5. Join the outer edges of the two Ø 8 mm holes with straight lines; saw along their inner edges so the cut-out is 8 mm wide.
  6. De-burr, smooth any saw notches with the file.
  7. Fit the fitting and screws with locking adhesive; pull it into position with a thin cord if far from the masthead.
  8. Fit the guard clamp if halyards could catch on fitting, toggle or terminal: bend it across the fitting, drill Ø 4.9 mm and rivet.
  9. For a sail-carrying stay insert a toggle between fitting and stay, centred with the enclosed washers.
