Universal Kicker Slider (boom)

MRT M6x20 screws or rivets are in the kit; any stainless M6 or 1/4" cheese-head screws, min. length 20 mm (5/8"), can be used.

  • Booms without slider track: if the wall is thinner than 3 mm (1/8"), use stainless or Monel rivets (Monel rivets: Seldén 167-027).
  • Booms with slider track: make a backing plate of stainless strip or sheet (min. 3 mm / 1/8"), and screw or rivet the slider to it. Seldén booms with track have suitable sliders.
  • Tools: drill ø5-5.2 mm and M6 tap (screws), drill ø6.5 (rivets), Torx T30, pen, riveting tool and ~3 mm mandrel (rivets).

With screws (508-403-01)

  1. Align the bracket with the boom.
  2. Mark the outer holes with a ø6.5 mm (~1/4") drill bit or pen.
  3. Drill ø5 mm and tap M6 (or similar imperial).
  4. Screw the bracket to the boom.
  5. Mark the five remaining holes.
  6. Remove the bracket to finish the five M6 holes.
  7. Fit the insulator, apply locking adhesive and screw the bracket on firmly – do not overtighten. If a thread fails, drill and fit a rivet (167-027).

With rivets (508-403-02)

  1. Align the bracket with the boom.
  2. Mark the two outer holes with a ø6.5 mm drill bit or pen.
  3. Drill ø6.5 mm.
  4. Fit the insulator.
  5. Rivet the bracket on.
  6. Drill the remaining ø6.5 holes and fit the remaining rivets.
  7. Knock out the remains of the rivet pins with the mandrel.

Reef lines run inside the boom: use a depth stop on the drill bit.

Universal Kicker Bracket (mast)

With screws (508-237-02)

MRT M6x20 screws included; any stainless M6 or 1/4" cheese-head screws, min. 20 mm (5/8"). Tools: drill 5-5.2 mm, ø6.5 drill or pen, M6 tap, Torx T30.

  1. Align the bracket bases fully with the aft face of the mast.
  2. Mark the four outer holes with a ø6.5 mm (~1/4") drill or pen.
  3. Drill ø5 mm and tap M6 (or similar imperial).
  4. Screw the bracket to the mast.
  5. Mark the remaining holes.
  6. Remove the bracket and finish the holes.
  7. Apply locking adhesive and fit firmly – do not overtighten, the mast wall can be thin. If a thread fails, fit a ø6.4 (1/4") rivet, length 18mm (3/4"), Seldén 167-002.

With rivets (508-237-03)

Rivets ø6.4x18 (Seldén 167-002) included; any stainless ø6.4 (1/4") rivets, min. 18 mm (11/16"). Tools: ø6.5mm (1/4") drill, pen, rivet tool.

  1. Align the bracket bases fully with the aft face of the mast.
  2. Mark the four outer holes.
  3. Make sure the rivets have room to expand inside the mast.
  4. Drill the holes.
  5. Rivet the bracket to the mast.
  6. Drill the six remaining holes and fit the rest of the rivets.

Cables and halyards run inside the mast: use a depth stop on the drill bit. The screw version says "eight remaining holes" then "finish the six holes" (as printed).
