Kits and Compatibility

Part no. Kit

ATCU/1+ Spinlock faceplate plus Spinlock handle control lever View kit →

Both kits are installed with an unused Teleflex throttle unit B700, CH2100P or CH2600P, sourced separately. Cables are also purchased separately.

Pre-Fitment Checks

  • The throttle body can be mounted vertically or horizontally; the faceplate stays vertical.
  • Check in front of and behind the mounting surface: the control unit must fit and the cables must lead away without sharp bends.
  • Check the winch handle or Spinlock control lever has unrestricted travel.
  • Maximum deck thickness: 30mm.

Installation Checklist

  • Pre-assemble the whole unit before fitting or drilling the deck; check gear engagement with the throttle in neutral (button depressed).
  • Mount the faceplate first, with the O-ring enclosed by the back plate onto the faceplate.
  • In neutral, the white line on the boss must align with the vertical line on the faceplate.
  • Locate the boss to the full depth of the axle; tighten the three grub screws and secure them with thread lock. The boss must stand out from the faceplate – adjust the black spacers if needed.
  • Use good-quality, low-friction cables led to the engine in a long radius (no less than 300mm), fixed in position and not forced round bulkheads or engine compartments.
  • Throttle/gear levers and cable ends must not interfere with each other behind the unit.
  • Outboard engines: add 1.25m (4 feet) of cable for a loop to allow for engine swing.

Installation

  1. Mark the centre of the faceplate with the template supplied (transparent sheet) and mark the mounting holes: four Ø5.2mm and one Ø32mm (1¼"). Dry-fit before sealing and securing.
  2. Remove the boss (4) from the faceplate (1), leaving the O-ring (5) and backing plate (2) in place in the faceplate. Fit the boss on the splined shaft of the throttle body, pushed fully to the base. Sleeve (10) is an optional OEM part that may not be needed.
  3. Position the faceplate and the 4 fasteners; the fastener choice (8 or 9) depends on horizontal or vertical mounting.
  4. Fit the black spacers (7) on the fasteners for vertical or horizontal mounting (diagrams 2 and 3).
  5. Position the throttle body behind the faceplate; for horizontal mounting rotate the spacers (7) to align with the throttle body mounts. Slide the body onto the fasteners and loosely tighten the nuts or bolts (8A or 9).
  6. At least 2mm of the boss must protrude from the plate (fig. 1). Depending on deck thickness the spacers (7) may need cutting down – a hacksaw does it.
  7. Check every throttle function: neutral throttling, forward and reverse selection and in-gear throttle. Separate the parts for final installation.
  8. Reassemble per the steps above and diagram 4. In neutral, align the white mark on the boss vertically with the white dot on the faceplate. Thread lock (Loctite) on the three boss grub screws and tighten firmly.
  9. Before fully tightening the faceplate, run a thin bead of silicone sealant round its inside edge – not polysulphide or polyurethane.
  10. Slide the sealing washer (6) over the neutral throttle button.
  11. Repeat step 7. Always re-check throttle operation before casting off.

Maintenance & Corrosion

  • Wash faceplate, boss and lever in fresh water regularly, especially in salt water.
  • Periodically check the control head mechanism for loose fasteners and wear of moving parts.
  • Keep metal moving parts lubricated with heavy grease and a moisture-displacing lubricant – do not spray plastic components with it.
  • Check cables and engine connections for wear and corrosion; replace as necessary.

Troubleshooting

Problem Action
Cannot select neutral Make sure the handle is engaging the neutral button.
Cannot select gear Make sure the handle is moving clear of the neutral button. To select a gear, pull the handle out until its locking part stops against the inside of the boss.

Dimension Drawing

  • The second download is a dimension drawing at 1:2 (all dimensions in mm), not a 1:1 drill template – drill from the transparent template supplied in the kit.
  • Faceplate fixings 75 × 48 centres, Ø5.2 holes for M5 CSK fixings; faceplate 101 wide; lever swing radius R140, 135° either side of vertical.
  • Minimum space behind the mounting face for the Teleflex unit: 225 × 130, horizontally or vertically mounted.

The drawing labels the holes "5 off M5 CSK" but its title block gives 4 × M5 CSK; the instructions give four Ø5.2 holes plus one Ø32. Page size printed as "(420 x 297) A2" (as printed).

Safety

  • Check the product is correctly specified for your application, load and line size, and that it is correctly installed before its first use under load.
  • Braided fibre rope only – never three-strand or wire rope. Never use the product if it is damaged or worn, or with damaged rope.
  • Never use cleaning or lubricating solvents, polysulphide or polyurethane based sealants: they degrade the product. Do not modify any part.
