Fitting Adjustments
- Put it on as a jacket.
- Fasten the button.
- Pull the chest belt tight.
- Position it so the chest belt is above the lowest point of the rib cage. If required, attach the legstraps: pass the strap through the legs before fastening the plastic buckle on the front.
It is unsafe to wear this harness loose: it must be worn tightly to be effective.
How to Use
- The anchorage point should be at the centre of the chest; make sure there are no sharp edges on the safety-line attachment point.
- Use with an approved safety line only. Attach to jackstays or fixed eyes able to withstand forces of more than 1 tonne.
- Never attach to lifelines, standing or running rigging, or for going aloft.
- Harness and safety line are intended to prevent falling overboard. They do not protect against falls from a height.
- Full performance may not be achieved with watertight/waterproof clothing or in other circumstances.
General Information
- Specific training is essential before use. Only the uses shown in the manual's diagrams, not crossed out, are authorised; all other uses are excluded.
- Use only by competent and responsible persons, or under the direct and visual control of one. Check compatibility with the rest of your equipment.
- Avoid rubbing against abrasive surfaces or sharp edges.
- Major falls: if your full bodyweight has been dropped a distance and stopped, stop using the harness – internal damage may have reduced its strength even with no visible change. Contact Spinlock if in doubt.
Checks
- During use, check buckles and other fastenings regularly.
- Before and after use, examine for damage, excessive abrasion, wear, tear or contamination – especially stitching, buckle and webbing. If in doubt, contact Spinlock for evaluation.
Cleaning, Storage & Chemicals
- Clean by hand or in a machine on a delicate-wash setting; rinse in clean water, maximum 30° C. Dry in a cool, ventilated, dark room.
- Grease spots can be removed with trichlorethylene. Webbing shrinks very slightly as it dries.
- Carry and store the harness in its bag, away from direct light, well ventilated and away from extreme temperatures.
- Disinfect when necessary with a disinfectant compatible with polyamide, polyester, polycarbonate and PVC, diluted in clean water at max 30° C; soak for an hour, rinse in clean cold water and dry slowly away from direct heat.
- Treat all chemicals (including petrol and battery acid), corrosives and solvents as harmful; if the harness contacts any, notify Spinlock stating the chemical.
- Salt, sand, moisture and chemicals considerably accelerate wear.
Warranty and Certification
- A special Spinlock two-year warranty applies when you register your batch number online as first owner.
- EU conformity assessment by notified body 0200 (FORCE Certification A/S) under PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425; UK assessment by 0514 (Fleetwood Notified Body).
