Options: sprayhood, Pylon light, Lume-On, HRS (Harness Release System), PLD. Spinlock does not service lifejackets more than 10 years old.
Features
- Pylon light with a 23cm elevation, activated on contact with water (optional).
- Sprayhood structured to stand free of the face (optional).
- Back adjustment point for fit and to reduce pressure on the neck.
- UML Pro Sensor Elite firing head with visual indicator showing the armed status of cylinder and head; indicator window on the rear.
- Safety line attachment loop in high tensile fibre (lighter and quieter than steel D-rings); optional rear safety line attachment point.
- Contoured crotch strap; chest pack attachment points; QBZ split zip for instant access to the oral tube; red lifting / buddy loop; whistle.
- Lume-On illumination (optional): water activated, minimum 2hrs flashing at full intensity, 5 year shelf life.
Fitting
- Put on as a jacket.
- Fasten the buckle.
- Pull the chest belt webbing tight – it is unsafe to wear any lifejacket or harness loosely.
- Adjust the back strap so the chest belt sits above the lowest point of the rib cage.
- Pass the crotch strap through the legs before fastening the plastic buckle on the front; it can be stored in the rear pocket.
The crotch strap is recommended; the jacket is tested and approved without it at your own risk.
Using the Harness
- Anchorage point is at the centre of the chest. Use an approved personal safety line only, with no sharp edges at the attachment point.
- Attach to jack lines or fixed eyes able to withstand more than 1 tonne. Never attach to lifelines, standing or running rigging.
- Harness and safety line prevent falling overboard; they give no protection against falls from height and can transmit very large forces.
- After a major fall (full body weight dropped and stopped) do not continue to use the product.
Inflating
| Method |
How |
| Manual |
Sharply pull the rubber handle downwards; the CO2 cylinder inflates the bladder within seconds. |
| Oral |
Open the zip at the yellow breakout point on the front panel, remove the end cap and blow until fully inflated. |
| Automatic |
Inflates within seconds of the inflator being submerged; the automatic capsule fires a sprung pin through the CO2 cylinder. |
Below freezing a full cylinder may not inflate the jacket adequately: top up orally after the CO2 has discharged (not before). Firing the CO2 into a fully inflated jacket can over-pressurise and damage it.
Deflating and Testing
- Deflate: invert the oral-tube end cap into the valve and gently squeeze out all air or gas; return the cap.
- Test in shallow water just deep enough for your head to be above the surface: automatic inflation within five seconds of water contacting the firing head.
- For an oral test remove cylinder and firing head first.
- After testing deflate fully and dry the Deckvest thoroughly.
Re-arming and Repacking
- Remove the cylinder and old firing cap by unscrewing anti-clockwise.
- Check the firing mechanism moves freely and is free from contamination.
- Fit the new cap first, then the new cylinder, ensuring a secure fit. Only approved Spinlock Deckware re-arming kits should be used.

Repacking
- Deflate, separate the zip chain at the yellow end section, pull the zips out and re-attach them on the firing-head side; run the slider round to that side.
- Concertina the bladder onto itself and align the firing head over the indicator window; check the cylinder is tight and the firing cap secure, and that the manual cord is not caught.
- Sprayhood (if fitted) goes underneath the bladder: lay it out, fold the window into its pocket and concertina the rest.
- Concertina the top in, run the zip round to close, fasten the flap across the breakout point and tuck the zip ends inside the cover.
Harness Release System (Optional)
- To release: pull the HRS handle cord only – the harness loop releases. Do not try to open it by rotating the lock with the handle.
- Re-arming: push the harness loop ends through the cover around the black belt webbing; the top loop must always pass through the bottom loop.
- Place the harness loop into the lock and use the handle to rotate the lock anticlockwise to the Locked position – do not over-rotate. Check the loop is secured and attach the handle to the press stud.
- Retro-fitting (service guide): the original harness loop is cut out and cannot be replaced once cut. 2021 models onwards use a separate flap secured to the belt.
Owner Checks
-
During use: check buckles and fastenings regularly.
-
Before and after use: look for damage, abrasion, wear, tear or contamination, especially stitching and webbing.
-
Annually: inspect the fabric; inflate orally until firm and leave 24hrs (any loss of firmness = leak, unsafe); check the oral valve under water; remove and inspect all components; make sure the CO2 cylinder is screwed in tight.
- Spinlock recommends a service at least every two years by an approved service center; the inspection record in the manual is laid out for an inspection every 3 months.
- Clean by hand with cylinder and automatic parts removed, fresh water max 30° C, dry in a cool ventilated dark room. Some dye may transfer when first used wet.
Service Centre Checks
- Bladder test with clean dry air to approx. 2 psi (14 kPa), 24 hrs at stable temperature; more than approx. 10% softening = replace the bladder.
- Firing mechanism tightened to the manifold at 3nm with a calibrated tool; new automatic cartridge with expiry at least 2 years away; both indicators green.
- Cylinder: 60g for 275N; check label and weight; Spinlock fits yellow retainers to the cylinder on all 275N models – replace on service.
- Corroded cylinder coating = replace. Jackets over 10 years old should not be serviced.
Spare Parts (Quick Service Guide, Deckvest 6D & DURO+)
The 275N bladder is also listed with a fitted UML Pro Sensor Elite unit: DW-BLD/275UML/2 with DW-UPS/F. Service tools: DW-SV1, DW-SV2, DW-SV3. The service guide also covers fitting the Ocean Signal MOB 1 and PLB 3 and the Lume-On lights; it is for approved Deckvest service centres.
