Spinlock PD Pad Eye — Instructions

Safe Working Loads

Model SWL vertical SWL 45° SWL horizontal Weight Fasteners
PD/6C 2150 kg 1290 kg 1290 kg 75g M6 × 2 View part →
PD/8C 4000 kg 2400 kg 2400 kg 145g M8 × 2 View part →
PD/10C 7600 kg 5250 kg 5250 kg 255g M10 × 2 View part →
PD/12C 9750 kg 6750 kg 6750 kg 440g M12 × 2 View part →

To achieve the maximum SWL the load must be applied in plane with the centrelines of both threads. Weights and fasteners from the drill guides.

Fitting

  • Check the deck thickness is within the range in the table; if not, contact Spinlock.
  • Mark out and drill the fixing holes through the deck, perpendicular to the deck and parallel to each other.
  • PD/6C and PD/8C: cut the plastic spacer tubes to length; they must protrude through the underside of the deck into the base plate holes.
  • Spacer tubes (PD/6C, PD/8C) and back collars (PD/10C, PD/12C) are not used on decks thinner than stated in the table.
  • Apply sealant/jointing compound where the product contacts the deck and between threaded collar, deck plate and staple.
  • The deck plate must sit perpendicular to the staple axes; adjust the threaded collars if necessary.
  • Do not over-tighten the nuts (maximum torque in the table). Flush regularly with fresh water.

Deck Thickness and Torque

Model Deck range Spacer length No spacer / back collar below Max torque
PD/6C 8 - 42mm Deck thickness minus 8mm 10mm 7Nm
PD/8C 13 - 47mm Deck thickness minus 13mm 15mm 17Nm
PD/10C 12 - 42mm – 17mm 30Nm
PD/12C 13 - 47mm – 20mm 45Nm

Maximum staple height above deck (drill guides): PD/6C 24 mm, PD/8C 30 mm, PD/10C 40 mm, PD/12C 46 mm.

Dimensions (A–J as on the drawing)

Model A B C D E (drill) F G H (deck) I J
PD/6C 6mm 10mm 10mm 3mm 2 × 10.5mm on 25.0 centres 45mm 20mm Max 42.0 / Min 8.0 24.2mm 55mm
PD/8C 8mm 12mm 12mm 3mm 2 × 12.5mm on 32.0 centres 58mm 26mm Max 47.0 / Min 13.0 30.0mm 62mm
PD/10C 10mm 14mm 15mm 5mm 2 × 15.5mm on 38.0 centres 70mm 32mm Max 45.0 / Min 23.0 40.0mm 69mm
PD/12C 12mm 18mm 17mm 5mm 2 × 17.5mm on 50.0 centres 88mm 38mm Max 45.0 / Min 23.0 46.0mm 86mm

F × G is the deck plate footprint, H the deck thickness and I the staple height above the deck. For PD/10C and PD/12C the dimension table gives a 23–45 mm deck range while the installation table gives 12–42 and 13–47 mm; the PD/10C drill guide gives 2 × 15.0 mm holes against 15.5 mm here (all as printed).

Drill Guides

  • One drill guide per size, on A4: PD/6C, PD/8C and PD/10C at 1:1, PD/12C at 1:2.
  • Spinlock's warning: if you use a guide as a template, set the printer for the drawing scale and always check the dimensions before drilling.
  • Each guide also shows the assembly: staple, threaded collar, deck plate, spacer or back collar, base plate, penny washer and nut.

Safety

  • Check the product is correctly specified for your application, load and line size, and that it is correctly installed before its first use under load.
  • Braided fibre rope only – never three-strand or wire rope. Never use the product if it is damaged or worn, or with damaged rope.
  • Never use cleaning or lubricating solvents, polysulphide or polyurethane based sealants: they degrade the product. Do not modify any part.
