Spinlock Performance Safety Lines — Owner's Manual

Performance Safety Line

  • Single-handed, double-action safety hooks in non-magnetic stainless steel.
  • Overload indicator: displays when the line load has exceeded 300kg and the line needs replacing.
  • Tested to ISO 12401 (ISO 12401:2009 – deck safety harness); EU conformity assessment by notified body 0200 (FORCE Certification A/S) under PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
  • Use temperature -40° C to +80° C. Shelf life up to 5 years before first use; after first use it should last 3 years.

Clipping On

  • The anchorage point on the harness should be at the centre of the chest; no sharp edges at the safety-line attachment point.
  • Use with an approved deck safety harness only.
  • The hook must be free to rotate to align with the load – avoid lateral loading of the hook.
  • Attach to jackstays or fixed eyes able to withstand more than 1 tonne. Never attach to lifelines, standing or running rigging, or for going aloft.

Warnings

  • Harness and safety line are intended to prevent you falling overboard; they give no protection against falls from a height.
  • In a fall the line may transmit very large forces to the anchorage point – only attach to strong hooking points or jacklines.
  • Specific training is essential before use; only the uses shown in the diagrams and not crossed out are authorised.
  • Major falls: if your full bodyweight has been dropped a distance and stopped, stop using the line even if no damage is visible.

Checks, Cleaning and Storage

  • Check the line before each use for damage, excessive abrasion, wear and tear of the stitching and webbing; avoid abrasive surfaces and sharp edges. If in doubt contact Spinlock.
  • Clean by hand or in a machine on a delicate-wash setting; rinse in clean water, max 30° C. Dry in a cool, ventilated, dark room. Grease spots can be removed with trichlorethylene.
  • Store away from direct light, well ventilated and away from extreme temperatures.
  • Disinfect when necessary with a disinfectant compatible with polyamide, polyester, polycarbonate and PVC, diluted in clean water at max 30° C; soak for an hour, rinse in clean cold water and dry slowly away from direct heat.
  • Treat chemicals (petrol, battery acid), corrosives and solvents as harmful; after contact, notify Spinlock stating the chemical.
  • 2-year warranty from the date of manufacture against faults in materials or manufacture.
