Quick Start
- Power on (hold 2s); open the CABLE menu and set the cable type from the Library (or Favourites) and the diameter – always check the diameter with the supplied callipers first.
- Confirm the cable; the screen shows the deflector position A–I. Press the chevrons and slide the deflector to that letter, then confirm.
- Fit the stopper below the measuring position if the cable has too little friction to support the device.
- Push the clamp handle lock down, open the handle fully, route the cable round the bottom sheave then the top sheave, and close the handle slowly until the lock clicks.
- Read tension or %BS on the TENSION page; clip the tether to the boat or to yourself.
Never clamp onto a cable unless the deflector is set to the position the device shows: incorrect use damages both cable and device.
Measurement Practice
- At least 1.5m from any terminations, fittings, knots, splices or hardware.
- Take readings in two orientations (e.g. rotated 180°) and average them.
- Repeat readings at the same position; large variations mean reposition and repeat.
- Measure under steady load only, on a clean section free of twists or damage.
- Warning Limit in SETTINGS: above the set %BS the TENSION page turns red and a buzzer sounds.
Gauge Check and Calibration
- Each Rig-Sense Pro is calibrated against the Rig-Sense Pro reference device; the pre-loaded cable settings were calibrated with that device.
- Use the supplied Gauge Check Tool regularly: check it is straight by rolling it on a flat surface, select Gauge Check (CABLE or SETTINGS menu), set the deflector to "I" and follow the prompts. Green = within range, red = not.
- "Set Zero" removes small offsets; "Service Required" means the device is outside the acceptable range – contact Spinlock with the serial number and firmware version (Settings > About).
- A "!" next to the settings icon means a gauge check should be performed. Record results in the Gauge Check Log (in the manual).
- Device Overload Warning: remove the device immediately, inspect device and cable, and verify calibration with the check tool before reuse.
- New cable calibrations can be arranged with Spinlock (a 4.1m length of cable with standard rigging eyes is required; a charge applies).
Charging & Travel
- Charge via USB-C: red light while charging, green when full (approx. 4 hours, up to 15 hours use). Close the charge port flap afterwards.
- For air travel or shipping the screen and electronics module (with the lithium battery) can be removed with the Allen key (three retaining bolts), powered off.
- Water-resistant but must not be left submerged. Do not open, modify or repair: no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Store dry and clean in the case provided; power off correctly after use.
Apps & Troubleshooting
- Load-Sense app (iOS & Android): live load, peak load, graph, alarms, multiple devices, CSV export.
- Rig-Sense app: log and share rig tuning guides.
- Will not power on: charge at least 30 minutes, then press and hold the power button.
- Not measuring correctly: check attachment and that moving parts are free, restart and repeat.
- Check for firmware updates (Settings > About > Device Management) before contacting support.
