Engine Room Ventilation

  • For ventilating the engine room, toilet or galley. Not recommended for supplying air to the engine: engine suction makes the fan overspeed and overheat.
  • Engine without its own air inlet: ventilate only with the engine stopped. With a separate inlet (grille with plenum chamber): extract hot air with the engine running or stopped.
  • Diesel: air in low, extract high. Petrol: air in high, extract low (below the top of the engine bed) but clear of bilge water.

Installation and Wiring

  • Fit on a bulkhead or floor well above the bilge water, away from splashes, drips or deck wash water.
  • Use the fan as a template; drill for 4.8 mm (no. 10) screws; tighten evenly without splitting the mounting feet.
  • Duct internal diameter 76 mm (3") for VENT76_A or 102 mm (4") for VENT102_: smooth inside, resistant to at least 70º C (158 degrees F), water, oil, fuel and under/over-pressure; short with few, wide bends; stainless hose clamps. Without a duct, fit a grille.
  • Wire at least 2.5 mm2 (AWG 14). Medium time lag fuse in the + wire: VENT76_A 8 A @ 12 V / 4 A @ 24 V; VENT102_ 9 A @ 12 V / 4,5 A @ 24 V. Red +, black −.
  • Run the fan at least 4 minutes and check for vapour before starting the engine. NEVER switch it on while refuelling.
