  • Fuel filter plus water separator (water is denser than fuel): over 90% water separation, 99% together with the engine's fine filter.
  • For diesel or petrol. The WS720 has two elements in parallel.

Placement

  • In the supply line between tank and fuel supply pump, as close as possible to the tank.
  • Preferably higher than the top of the tank, so a leaking filter cannot drain the tank (drawing 1). Valve at the tank suction connection; preferably slope the whole line down towards the tank.
  • Keep all fine filters before or after the fuel pump.
  • Never let the filter hang on the piping: mount the housing on a vertical bulkhead, with room underneath to drain water and change the element.
  • Observe local regulations for fuel tanks and pipes.

Connections

  • Flow direction is marked on the top.
  • WS180: fit the two hose pillars supplied (M14 x 1,5 - 8 mm).
  • WS720: fit the fittings, slide coupling nut and compression ring over the pipe and screw it into the fitting; seal unused inlet/outlet ports with the plugs supplied.
  • Fill the element with clean fuel, oil the sealing ring lightly, screw it on in the direction shown and, once the ring touches, hand-tighten a half to three-quarters of a turn – no tools.

Maintenance

  • Drain water regularly (once a month) via the plug underneath (drawing 2).
  • Replace the element once a year or after every 200 operating hours: close the fuel valve, drain the filter, unscrew the element in the direction of the arrow, fill the new one with clean fuel, oil the ring and hand-tighten as above (drawings 3–7).
  • Bleeding: most engines are self-bleeding; otherwise bleed after draining or changing the element. With the fuel pump ahead of the filter, bleed via the hexagon bolt on top.
  • VETUS is not liable for damage caused by fuel, oil or coolant additives.
