Throttle and Gearbox Function

  • One lever operates both gearbox and fuel pump (throttle). Throttle: push or pull. Gearbox: push-forward/pull-reverse or push-reverse/pull-forward.
  • Double gearbox lever with 4 holes: pull or push shifting for a cable stroke of 38 mm (1 1/2") or 31 mm (1 1/4") without modifying the mechanism – choose the hole for the function.
  • Delivered for ‘pull’ throttle. For ‘push’ throttle: remove screw (1) and washer (2), lift out the throttle lever (3), move the dowel (4) to the opposite hole (5), turn the lever 180° and refit. With push throttle the dowel must engage the inner groove (6), or the lever has too little stroke.
  • If in doubt about push or pull, ask the engine supplier.

Pull-Push Cables

  • Use the correct total cable length, as few loops as possible and a bend radius of at least 50 cm (20"); smaller radii wear the outer cable.
  • Clamp the cables every 60 cm (2 ft), keep them away from exhaust parts and other heat, and prevent chafing.
  • After connecting, check the cables move without significant resistance.
  • Throttle cable: remove nut (7) and both rubber seals (8), pass it through the bracket, refit seals and nut, secure with the lock pin (9); screw nipple (10) on so 4 mm of thread protrudes, lock with nut (7), fit to the throttle lever with cotter pin (11). Feed it to the mechanism with 1 or 2 loops – never clamp it close to the mechanism.
  • Gearbox cable: through the lower part of the mechanism (14) with the outer cable on the correct side; nipple with 4 mm protruding, nut (7), cotter pin (11). It can be fixed in a bulkhead near the mechanism.
  • Never press the knob (13) before the mechanism and cables are attached; if the gearbox lever blocks, turn it back to neutral by hand.
  • Always connect the cables to the mechanism first and to the engine and gearbox last.

Housing and Lever

  • Allow for the full lever stroke (overall dimensions in the PDF); mount the housing as far aft on the panel as possible for maximum throttle-cable slack in reverse.
  • Mark the holes and cut-out with the drilling template (separate 1:1 PDFs for AFSTTOP and AFSTTOPT – print at 100% and check the dimensions); drill ø5 mm (4x).
  • Fit the two brackets to the mechanism and check the lever has full stroke; pass both cables through the hole and connect them.
  • Silver housing part under the mechanism, fix to the dash, fit 2 end pieces (AFSTTOP) or bridge pieces (AFSTTOPT). AFSTTOPT: fit the vibration dampers, not opposite each other.
  • Fit the black cap, grease the mechanism, O-ring on the axle, lever in position (usually vertical) with full forward throttle travel; grease and snug the lever screw (not too tight).
  • Lever forward, then press the neutral button firmly home.

On the Engine and in Use

  • Connect the cables to gearbox and fuel pump as the engine supplier specifies; check the fuel pump lever reaches its end stop and the gearbox shifts correctly.
  • Adjustable brake: stops the throttle creeping back; turn the adjusting screw clockwise for more resistance.
  • Optional neutral safety switch: prevents starting with the gearbox engaged.
  • Two stations per engine need two differential devices (one for gearbox, one for throttle).
  • Neutral position button: disengages the gearbox so you can throttle up for starting/warming; it pops back when the lever returns to neutral.
  • Maintenance: rinse lever and housing with fresh water; check for loose or worn parts; lubricate moving parts with moisture-resistant oil; check cables and connections for wear and corrosion.
