Vetus Mechanical Remote Engine Control SISCO, SICO, RCTOP — Installation & User Manual

Covered Models

  • Top mount, single lever: RCTOPB, RCTOPBG, RCTOPS, RCTOPSG. Top mount, twin lever: RCTOPTB, RCTOPTBG, RCTOPTS, RCTOPTSG.
  • Side mount: SICO, SICOG, SISCO, SISCOG.
  • One lever controls gearbox and throttle. Throttle: pushing or pulling. Gearbox: push-forward/pull-backward or push-backward/pull-forward.
  • Suits Vetus and Morse 33C cables, OMC type OS and Mercury type KM; the numbered holes in the mechanism correspond to the cable type (table and drawings 1–4 in the PDF).

Pull-Push Cables

  • Remove the lever and part of the housing (RCTOP..) or the lever and plate (SI(S)CO(G)) before mounting the cables on the mechanism.
  • Both functions in neutral before connecting.
  • Enough total cable length; as few bends as possible, bend radius at least 500 mm (20"); clamp every 60 cm (24"); keep away from the exhaust; prevent abrasion; check for free movement.
  • Always connect the cables to the mechanism first, and to gearbox and throttle only once the complete remote is installed. Check full throttle travel and correct shifting.

Top Mounting (RCTOP)

  • Mark the holes and opening with the 1:1 drill pattern (RCTOP or RCTOPT – print at 100% and check), using the two brackets as mounting brackets.
  • Drill, cut out, fit the self-stick spacer, assemble with M5 bolts of the correct length, refit the housing part.
  • Grease the axle and fit the lever in the desired position (usually vertical); M10 bolt with screwlock (Loctite 243).

Side Mounting (SICO / SISCO)

  • Needs at least 180 mm (7") behind the bulkhead; bulkhead max. 16 (5/8") as drawn.
  • Mark and cut with the SICO, SISCO drill pattern (print at 100%); fit the inseal on the back of the plate, attach the mechanism to the plate and bolt the assembly to the bulkhead.
  • Grease the axle, fit the lever (usually vertical), M10 bolt with Loctite 243; check the cable path.

Adjustment and Operation

  • Screw 1 sets the friction of the throttle mechanism to suit the throttle counter-pressure.
  • Button 2 disengages the gearbox so you can only throttle (starting, warming up); it pops out when the lever returns to neutral.
  • Maintenance: rinse with fresh water, check for loose and worn parts, lubricate with water-resistant lubricant, check cables for wear and corrosion.

Neutral Switch and Two Stations

  • The built-in neutral switch prevents starting in gear; wiring diagrams: A single station, B two stations, C single station with restart protection, D two stations with restart protection (starter switch, relay, neutral switch, starter relay, charging light, alternator D+/WL).
  • Two stations per engine: two differential devices, one for the gearbox and one for the throttle.
