About These Documents
- Service manual: Peugeot "Diesel Engines XUD7.. XUD9.. Overhaul" brochure (VETUS reference STM0167), covering XUD7 (A9A), XUD7TE (A8A), XUD9 (D9A), XUD9A (D9B) and XUD9Y (DJ2). The procedures were carried out on an XUD9A engine; all dimensions in millimetres unless shown otherwise.

Cylinder Head and Gasket Identification
- Cylinder head height h nominal: 157,40 to 157,75 (measured with the camshaft fitted with two bearing caps). Maximum permissible bow: 0,07 (the camshaft must turn freely).
- Maximum permissible gasket face machining: 0,4 in relation to the measured h nominal; heads machined undersize are stamped R. After machining, re-establish the valve seat recess, correct the swirl chamber protrusion and fit 0,4 thick compensation washers under the valve springs.
- Heads with oversize camshaft bearings (+ 0,5) are stamped 1. Camshafts with 0,5 mm oversize bearings carry a yellow paint ring between the cams of n. 1 cylinder.

Cylinder head bolts "B": pre-tightening 20 Nm, tightening 60 Nm, then +120°, with no re-tightening. The "Bolts A" procedure is struck through in the document. For the big ends, see page 48 of the brochure.
