Instructions for Use
- Scope: the safety harness and its tether are designed for deck use and to prevent the wearer from falling overboard. They are not suitable for working at height, such as climbing a mast. ProLine tethers comply with European Regulation 2016/425 and ISO12401:2009 and must be used with a safety harness that complies with current standards and has, preferably, a crotch webbing.
- Caution: the harness and tether may be subject to considerable forces. Only attach to anchor points and jacklines designed for the purpose that can support forces greater than or equal to 600 kg as per ISO 15085 : 2003. Anchor points must be positioned to prevent the user from falling into the water; keep jacklines as close as possible to the centerline.
- Choose a tether length that prevents the wearer from falling overboard. Nautical use only – do not use as a PPE against fall, do not use for climbing.
- Caution: the snap hook with the coloured safety catch (2), which is not fluorescent, must always be fastened to the harness. Use the SmartLoop to attach the snap hook that is not in use, so an emergency release only means unclipping the harness snap hook.
- Double tether 7039: the short and long webbings do not have to be fastened in series and so do not exceed 2 meters in length.
- After a heavy fall or a torn overload indicator, or both, stop using the product immediately (webbing and snap hooks): it may be damaged internally. Do not replace the webbing yourself.
- The carabiner load marking (EN 362: 2004) is not relevant to the use of a PPE against falling overboard.
- Acceptable temperatures: -20°C to +60°C. Clean (soap and water, max 30°C) after each use to keep salt and foreign material out of the mechanisms; store clean, cool, airy and dry. Do not cut off the labels.
Inspection
- Allocate each tether permanently to one user so that person knows its history.
- Before use: inspect webbing and seams for cuts, tears, wear, heat or chemical damage. Check the snap hook is not cracked, bent or corroded; open the gate and check it closes and locks automatically. The locking indicator must be entirely visible. Never use the snap hook without its safety catch.
- During use: always close and lock the gate; foreign bodies can stop it locking. Strength is reduced if the gate opens or if anything presses on the hook. No sharp edges near the webbings.
- The snap hook must be compatible with its associated equipment and move freely on the anchor point. Only use with compatible harnesses that comply with ISO 12401:2009.
- An inspection follow-up sheet (model, serial number, dates, compliant / non compliant, next inspection) is at the back of the notice.
Lifespan & Warranty
- ProLine webbings: maximum 5 years; ProSnap snap hooks: maximum 10 years, both from the date of manufacture.
- Withdraw from use if it fails a visual inspection, has taken considerable loads or a heavy fall, the overload indicator is torn, any part of its history is unknown, the webbing is more than 5 years old and the snap hook more than 10 years old, or you have the slightest doubt. Destroy discarded products.
- Any modification, addition or repair is prohibited.
- Warranty: ProSnap snap hook 5 years, ProLine webbing 3 years, from the date of purchase by the first owner, against material and/or manufacturing defects (proof of purchase required).
