Quick Marine Lighting: LED Downlights, Courtesy and Reading Lights for the Saloon, Cabins and Engine Room
Quick lighting covers interior and deck-level lighting on sailboats and cruisers: recessed LED downlights, small courtesy lights for companionways and berths, reading lights, table lamps, utility lights for lockers and the engine room, an underwater light, and the dimmers that control them. Picking the right one is mostly about three things — where it goes (which sets the IP rating), the voltage on your boat, and how you want to switch and dim it.
Quick Lighting Families in This Collection
- XP power LED downlights (Blake, Kai, Kor, Marina): recessed downlights in 4W and 6W, rated IP66, with a stainless steel bezel (square or round) and a frosted lens. The XP listings give an input of 10-30V DC, so one fixture covers 12V and 24V boats, and either spring-mounted (clips into the cut-out) or screw-mounted. Examples: the Blake XP 6W spring-mounted, the Blake XP 4W screw-mounted, the Kai XP 6W, the Kor XP 6W and the Marina XP 6W. Kai also comes in LP and HP versions, such as the Kai XP LP 6W.
- Other downlights: Jd, Jo, Sonia, Chiara, Nikita, Ely, Erica, Yoko, Tati and more, in mirror-polished, satin, chromed or white bezels, in daylight and warm white. The Jd listing describes an IP65 light with a 36 mm square stainless trim — see the Jd. The Ted C is sold in an IP66 and an IP40 version, so read the title for the rating. Dual-colour versions pair warm white with red, like the Ted C Dual.
- Courtesy lights: compact stainless fixtures with a polished, satin or white finish, in daylight, warm white and blue — Gladis, Grace, Gwenda and Margot in 1-light and 2-light versions, plus Irene, Tina, Tess, Harrient, Hallie, Ilenia, Lida and Venus. The Gladis and Irene listings give IP65; the Gladis is spike protected to ±500V and not polarity sensitive. Start with the Gladis 1L, the Gladis 2L or the Irene.
- Reading lights: the Shark 30 and Shark 50 (IP40, flexible neck, vertical mounting, red LED), the Audrey Wall Light with USB (wall or desk mounted, adjustable, with switch, IP40), and the QB, Maya, Joyce, Olivia, Jacob and Califfa series in chrome or black composite — for example the QB Twins and the Maya in warm white.
- Table lights: the retractable Secret Light 3W (stainless, warm white, IP66) and the 6W, plus the halogen Isotta and the Martine in 12V and 24V.
- Halogen lampshade lights: the Dominique, Domitilla, Iolanda, Isabella, Sheila and Sharon wall lights with a fabric shade and a chrome finish, with a switch. Quick's Domitilla listing describes an IP20 halogen wall light with a chromed brass arm, available with a 12V or 24V bulb — see the Domitilla, the Dominique and the Iolanda. These are dry-interior fittings, not deck lights.
- Utility lights: the Action Bicolor (daylight/red) and Action Touch Bicolor compartment lights for ceiling or wall, and the 10W Engine Room LED Action, listed IP66.
- Underwater light: the Xyper LED, an IP68 light for underwater installations, in cool white.
- Dimmers: the ZDIM100, the LDIM BUS 2CH (two channels) and the LDIM BUS RGBW, all IP20, so they go in a dry spot. Quick states its dimmers are for use on its Power LED downlights.

Matching the IP Rating to the Location
- IP66 and up (cockpit, deck, engine room): the XP downlights, the Ted C IP66, the Secret Light 3W and the Engine Room LED Action are listed IP66. The Xyper is IP68 and made to sit underwater.
- IP65 (saloon, heads, companionway): the Gladis, Irene and Jd are listed IP65, a fit for areas that may see spray or condensation.
- IP40 and IP20 (dry cabin only): the Shark and Audrey reading lights are IP40, and the halogen lampshade lights and the dimmers are IP20. Keep them away from water.
12V, 24V, Colour and Dimming
- Voltage: the XP downlights list 10-30V DC, so they suit both 12V and 24V systems. The halogen Martine and lampshade lights are sold per bulb voltage (12V or 24V), so check the title. The Audrey lists its current draw at 24V; confirm voltage on its page.
- Colour: most LED lights come in daylight (cool white) or warm white. The Shark is red, and the Action Bicolor and the Dual downlights give a choice of white and red. Courtesy lights also come in blue.
- Dimming: Quick lists its Power LED downlights as two-wire dimmable. Add a ZDIM100 or an LDIM BUS dimmer to control brightness, and check the product page for the exact pairing.
- Protection: many listings state spike protection to ±500V. Some are polarity sensitive, such as the Shark, the Audrey and the Secret Light, while the Gladis is not — wire them with the correct polarity.
Spring-Mounted or Screw-Mounted
The XP downlights come both ways, and the titles say which. Spring-mounted lights clip into the cut-out and are quick to swap; screw-mounted lights are fixed with screws for a firm hold. Measure the cut-out and the panel depth behind it, and check the cut-out size on the product page before you drill.
Who It's For
Owners refitting a saloon or cabins with LED downlights, replacing halogen fixtures, adding reading lights at berths, lighting an engine room or locker, and installers matching one range of fittings, dimmers and finishes across the whole boat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which IP rating do I need for a marine downlight?
Use IP66 for exposed areas such as the cockpit, deck and engine room. IP65 suits the saloon, heads and companionway. IP40 and IP20 fixtures, like the Shark and Audrey reading lights, the halogen lampshades and the dimmers, are for dry cabin spaces only.
Do Quick downlights run on 12V and 24V?
The XP downlights (Blake, Kai, Kor and Marina) are listed for 10-30V DC, so they cover both. The halogen Martine and lampshade lights are sold as 12V or 24V, so check the title.
What is the difference between spring-mounted and screw-mounted?
Spring-mounted lights clip into the cut-out; screw-mounted lights are fastened with screws. Both are listed on the XP downlights. Pick on how you want to fit and service them.
Can I dim Quick lights?
Quick lists its Power LED downlights as two-wire dimmable and sells the ZDIM100, LDIM BUS 2CH and LDIM BUS RGBW dimmers for them. Check the product page for which dimmer suits your fixture.
Are Quick LED lights polarity sensitive?
Some are. The Shark, the Audrey and the Secret Light are listed polarity sensitive, so wire plus and minus correctly; the Gladis courtesy light is listed as not polarity sensitive. Many listings also state spike protection to ±500V.
