All Hayn rigging hardware is engineered to exceed the minimum breaking strength of compact strand 316 wire of the corresponding size, but a maximum of 40% of the listed amounts should not be exceeded – consult your engineer for the safe working load of your application.

  • Only use swage terminals engineered for compact strand ("-CS" suffix) on compact strand wire; the step-by-step swaging technique and after-swage inspection are on p. 18–19 (also published on our site as "Hayn Swaging Techniques – Compact Strand Wire Rope").
  • Swage consumables listed: LOCTITE-640 sleeve retainer, LOCTITE-7471 Kleen & Prime, DIAMOND-POWDER, SCOTCH-PAD (7447), Hayn lint-free wipes.

Hi-MOD Compression Terminals

  • Hi-MOD mechanical terminals are produced by Petersen Stainless in the UK and distributed by Hayn in the USA.
  • The crown ring spaces the wire strands evenly so each strand takes the load equally; the strands are not bent around the cone, and the longer, shallower cone gives a secure swageless terminal.
  • Cone and crown ring can be inspected and re-used.
  • Sealant is not recommended; if you use one, a non-acidic polysulfide or better marine-grade sealant is acceptable.
  • Do not overtighten: galled threads from overtightening are not covered.
  • Assembly consumables listed: LOCTITE-277 permanent thread locker, LOCTITE-7649 Kleen & Prime, Hayn lint-free wipes.
