- Muir commercial gear for patrol boats, work boats, fishing vessels and high speed ferries; gear for vessels up to 150 metres.
- Standard build: steel or cast steel, grit blasted, zinc primed and white epoxy enamel; also bronze, stainless, alloy or cast iron to order.
- Built to class on request (ABS, Lloyds, DNV, NKK, GL, RRR, RMSR, BV, KR, CCS; MCA and USL codes). Classification requires a minimum lifting speed of 9 metres/minute; optional two-speed hydraulic or AC drives up to 18M/M.
- Rating = maximum short-period pull; working load as set by the classification society, otherwise the maximum continuous load. Model numbers do not indicate capacity.
- Electric motors need circuit breakers (or fuses); hydraulic motors need relief valves and counter balance valves against run back.
- Muir prefers a chain sample (with joining links and kenter shackles if used) with the order. The catalogue is not for installation purposes.

Recovery speed 9M/min (minimum) for all SD models. Drive: hydraulic, or electric AC 200-400 Volts 3PH 50 or 60HZ (24V on some smaller models). Free fall by dog clutch with external drum brake, or hydraulically; the SD100 is available with a cone clutch. The SD250 and SD350 PP versions carry the AC/hydraulic power pack on the base plate. Winches, Capstans & Haulers
- RW3300/63: rated lift 400kg (~4kN), 1.0 -1.5KW, 3M/min, 60M × 6mm, approx. 65kg. RW6600/86: 820kg (~8kN), 2.0KW, 3M/min, 80M × 6mm, approx. 85kg. For boats up to 3000 kg on ramps, slipways and trailers; worm drive, fully reversible, 12/24/HYD/AC.
- Docking capstans: hydraulic, electric or planetary drive, standard or tall, 90° or inline drives; serviceable from above and below with the deck plate in place.
- Vertical windlasses: running gear stripped from above deck, drive removed from below with the deck plate intact; VRC integral base, VR low profile, 35º brake/handwheel versions.
- Horizontal windlasses: HR5000, HR6000, HR8000, HR11000, HR15000, HR22000; single capstan to port, gypsy to starboard, independent gypsy and capstan, sealed worm drive.
- Gunwhale hauler capstan: 2 KW AC/DC or hydraulic (40 litres/min, 60 Bar); lifting force 150kg / 200kg; 60M/min; 330mm-diameter alloy head; 12 & 24 Volt DC or hydraulic.
Deck Equipment & Controls
- Chain stoppers: for chain up to 38mm (1½"), in chromed or polished bronze or 316 stainless; combined chain stopper/devil claw in 316L. Dimension tables for short link and stud link chain are in the PDF.
- Chain compressors: handwheel and stainless spindle clamp the chain, sizes 12.5–17.5, 17.5–26 and 26–36 mm chain.
- Alloy hatches (DNV standard): round 591601 standard 620mm dia, 591600 with internal handle, deck rings 591650 alloy / 591651 steel; oval 591501 standard 580×360mm, 591500 with internal handle, deck rings 591550 alloy / 591551 steel.
- Chain pipes in 316L, chrome bronze or polished bronze for chain up to 30mm U2; control cabinets for single, two or variable speed.
- Auto Anchor controls: AA150 counter, AA560 wired and AA710/AA730 wireless control and counter kits, AA320/AA342 heavy duty pendants, foot switches (150 Amps continuous rating) and remote up/down controls.
