What the Selden deck swivel is for and how to set its horizontal travel, horizontal friction and vertical angle.
Where It Fits
The deck swivel articulates to follow the movements of the trimmer. It is used for main sheets on keelboats and smaller yachts, and can be used on bigger boats if the purchase of the tackle is sufficient. Materials: composite and stainless steel.
Setting Up the Swivel
| Adjustment | How |
|---|---|
| Horizontal articulation | Two stops can be fixed in 5 different positions, from a fixed arm to 300° of movement. Adjusted without taking the swivel apart. |
| Horizontal friction | Set with a control knob, recessed to prevent accidental adjustment but easy to reach with a screwdriver or similar tool. |
| Vertical articulation | Adjustable from a flat horizontal lead to a steep 45° angle. |
